TOYOTA ALTEZZA WITH 3S-GE ENGINE FAULT CODES 14 AND 21 MEANS WHAT?

G'day zac, the codes mentioned don't really relate to a 2001 model, the first thing to check though is the fuses for the left bank heater circuit these codes will be there but no apparent difference in performance. Now, is the engine running rough or pinging as the 3s depicts the engine as a twin cam and these 2 codes would indicate that the cam positions are too far advanced. Best course of action would be to get a tradesman to plug in his trusty obd11 fault code scanner and see what comes up on the magic screen.

Cam bearings

Remove the rocker cover to ascertain the damage done . It may not be bearings but seized valve in the head. To fix cam bearings properly it may necessitate the head removal and machining both the head surface and then the bearings should be line bored to realign the cam shaft correctly. Some Nissan products have the cam bearing housings adjustable with shims to align the holes correctly and if not done will break the cam shaft. IT may be the cam shaft is broken and jammed . What ever it will not be just a case of putting in new bearings until you have the head and bearing alignment checked out by an engineering shop.

My engine shuts off while im driving

Check ecm for number 1228253. If it has this one in it you will have a cutting off problem. Gm replaced these with #16198264 The cam sensor magnet on the cam gear will deteriorate and give problems. This will require removal of the timing cover.

NEED INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALL A TIMING CHAIN

how about a timing belt!!! not easy keep in mind you should consider changing your water pump and cam shaft seal these are well known to go at 80-100 thou km it would be a shame to see you do all this work and a week or two later strip it all down again just to change a $6.00 seal or a water pump that is on the same drive as that timing belt!! you have a job on your hands do you have timing experience prior to your attempted? I just did mine!!I do you have a impact gun and finger pullers for crank shaft pulley removal a harmonic puller won't help you any! be sure to have your timing marks bang on the cam shaft gear and crank shaft pulley these valves will bend if it jumps!hope this helps.
