Could be anything from a bad gas cap to a bad sensor. The engine light has about 200 reasons it may come on. You can have a mechanic put it on a code reader for about $100, or you can buy a code reader at Wal mart for the same. I wouldn't worry about the check engine light unless the car acts up. My light has been on for 2 years now, and nothing has happened so far. Good luck, but I wouldn't worry. If you talk to some more owners of sunfires,m Id bet that 9 out of 10 will say their engine light is on.Hope this was helpful to you

Well, I don't think so. The pressure sensor will throw its own code (0450, 0451, 0452, 0453, or 0454). And likewise, the fuel level sender or sensor could also throw its own codes (P0460-P0464).

I'm not sure the level sensor and the pressure sensor are linked together. They are separate on a 2005 buick century, the pressure sensor being at the top of the tank located on the fuel pump module, but Cadillac: anything is possible.

Since you replaced the purge solenoid, there may be a problem in the circuit. The purge should have battery voltage to it with the key on. The ECM will ground the circuit internally when the purge is wanted. One symptom of a purge valve that isn't working or stuck closed can be a whooshing sound when the fuel tank cap is opened, indicating excessive pressure in the tank.
A shop's scan tool could be used to command the purge valve on to check it.

PLEASE ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!!!

Check engine light on ? Have the codes read at a parts store , they do it for free , and they will suggest a part for you to buy . This may or may not fix the problem . Your best bet , take it to a ASE certified repair shop !

Hey i just bought a 97 sunfire and it didnt pass etest. everything was fine except the nox. limit was 505 reading was 1032. what could be an affordable solution? my understanding is that its the egr or...

Well first is the check engine light on. Egr will set a code if it is working or not. Possible cat but could be a front O2 sensor causing the vehicle to run too rich. The best thing is to run a scan to see if there are any codes and they can see if the O2 sensors are work and even check the Mass Air Flow sensor too. Good luck.

If it's the check engine light, (see owners manual) make sure the gas cap is tight, and if it doesn't go away in a day or two, get it scanned to see what error the computer has found. (I would also look at the oil and coolant levels to be safe)

My engine light will not trun off on my mustang and itpassed saftey and etest how do i get it to trun off

You must First Be SURE that there is NO TRUE FAULT with the VEHICLE, meaning that if there is Fault codes they must be Corrected, as in Part Replacment for this Light to turn off and "STAY OFF". If this has ALL Been DONE Correctly,Then Even the Cheap CODE SCANNER can ERASE / RESET this Light, or You Can DISCONNECT the BATTERY for 1 Minute-<<(( I Do this for 1 hour) myself as SOME ECM's Will HOG RESIDUAL CURRENT thus Providing it with Enough Current to KEEP this CODE Alive in ECM for Longer than a few Minutes.

Lots of carbon in the cylinders,EGR valve not working,a dirty or leaking fuel injector,to far advanced timing.

Run 2 cans of fuel injector in 1/2 tank of gas and run it as low as you can before refueling.

I would set the timing back 5 degrees and test again, put it into service mode (check engine light on) if you have to to get timing back to cool combustion for the test.

This should lower the no% and the co% may just pass too.

Do not use premium fuel ( which is just slower burning fuel) when doing etests,or for normal driving if your engine does not require it,
It will cause carbon deposits in the combustion chamber and it will almost always give higher readings when etesting.

Problem passsing the etest

What engine do u have?? 2.0 litre?

Most probably ur problem lies in the catalytic converter, which is part of the exhaust system.

Could also be leaky injectors which would cause the car to run too rich.

Fuel return line can't be blocked off, wouldn't make sense.
