I started getting false light inidications (ABS, Brake light, Doors open) Battery meter would showed the battery was charging then slowly go down. Today truck started check voltage 6vdc will engine running. took barrty cable off engin dyes.
Could be a problem with your ignition switch. This happend to me. Battery shown it was charged, then while driving, the gauge slowly would drop. There could be a wire that is shot inside the ignition switch.
a 6ya Mechanic can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Get a volt meter, start your car and see how many volts your car is producing while running. Should be around 14 volts. May want to watch the meter for a while since your electric seems to fluctuate. Most voltage regulators are internal of your alternator. If you are getting a lot more or less than 14 volts while running, replace the alternator. If it is not charging, voltage will drop as vehicle runs, until battery is dead.
This sounds like a typical BCM (body control module) problem. First thing would be to check the fuses. Pull them and visually check for bad ones. You'll know when you see one. Doing it this way lets you know if they're bad and by reinserting them you are making them have a better contact. This fixes 30% of problems. Next would be having a diagnostics run on the BCM. Checking for codes. This is helpful for pointing you in the right direction for electrical shorts. IE... Doors, lights ...This would need an electrical schematic to solve these problems. With the schematics you can also check wires for continuity. Which is important. If all wires check out, I would suspect the BCM is bad. This could also be checked with an Ohm meter. But you will need pinouts of the BCM. Pinouts tell you what wires go where and voltages supplies. If you are not familiar with an Ohm meter, I suggest that you find someone you can trust to diagnose the problem.
Yes it could be could be connection at the battery term. If you have a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) hook it to the battery turn it on 30 volt dc scale, start up the car and see what it reads. If the readings are less then 13 volts wiggle the wires at the alt. and batt. and watch the meter.
usually caused by failed generator. Fix the generator and other lights will also extinguish. The car should jump start, but will not stay running without a charged battery. Recommend removing the generator and take to parts store for testing. Would you like instructions for removing generator?
This is indicating a fualt with the abs and braking system. Volkswagon is very proprietary and a trip to the dealer may be nesssary. If you look in your owners manual it will tell you what all of the warning lights on your dashboard mean. I would also check your battery, if your battery is not putting out optimal voltage for this car then it will play all sorts of havoc with your warning system by throwing false warning and such. My 07 passat did the same thing, I would get in the car and every warning light on the dash would light up like a christmas tree and then go off a little while later. I replaced the battery and I never had a problem again.
CHECK TO MAKE SURE WITH CAR RUNNING VOLTAGE AT THE BATTERY SHOULD BE 13.5 VOLTS TO 14.5 VOLTS. USE A DIGITAL VOLT METER TO CHECK VOLTS AT BATTERY. WITH ENGINE OFF BATTERY VOLTAGE SHOULD BE 12.5 VOLTS. IF NOT ALTERNATOR NOT CHARGING BATTERY.THAT WILL MAKE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND A FAULTY BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH WILL ALSO CAUSE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD.HAVE THE ABS BRAKES SCANNED.IN THIS CASE YOU ARE HAVING BRAKE FAILURE.BECAUSE WHEN BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON THATS WARNING BRAKE FAILURE BECAUSE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND ABS UNIT IS TOGETHER AS ONE.NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.COULD LOSE BRAKE CONTROL AT ANY TIME TOW IT IN.
try disconnecting the negitive battery cable these trucks had a tendency to have the abs send a false signal to the idiot light leave it disconnected for about 20 minutes if not fixed then have the obd 1 codes read at an auto parts store it could be the abs sensor on the front wheels but it was usaully just a false ground reading
