it maybe the soleniod that is not making contact. maybe try swaping the starter relay. if that does not work see if the vech. lock control is on if so you may need to call the dealer

does it sound like the starter is engaging or is it not making contact on the soleniod.

If you want to trick the soleniod you can turn the key switch on and touch the two contacts with a screw driver are a pair of insulated pliers

My s10 when turn key on it makes couple clicking sounds then everything goes dead. Tried few times an wont start what may be the problem

The "clicking" is usually the starter solenoid chattering. This can be caused by:
  1. Bad Starter Solenoid
  2. Bad Starter
  3. Weak battery not supplying enough current to engage starter.
Turn on the interior dome light. When you crank the engine, if the light dims slightly, the battery is probably OK. If it goes out, or blinks at the rate of the clicking noises, have the battery tested.

Will not start, lights come on but engine won't turn just clicks.

Do the headlights dim when you turn the key? If so, the battery is flat and needs charging. You may need a new battery if it is 5 years or older.

How do I know if my the reason my 2005 Grand Prix GT won't start is bec I need a new battery?

The clicking sound is coming from the starter. It could be a faulty solenoid, or you could be right about the battery. If the battery is too weak, the starter will not engage. A quick test is to turn on the dome light. If the dome light dims slightly when cranking and you hear the clicks it is probably the starter. If the light goes out or dims greatly, it is probably the battery. If the battery is weak, it is a good idea to have the charging system tested as well. If the battery is older than three years, it is probably just the battery.

Car will not crank and the timing chain is fine

Well, that's good, but even if the chain was broke, the starter would still be tryiing to start the car. Since your starter wont crank the engine over, your start circuit has a malfunction. Possibly the starter went out, so you need to have that tested for a malfunction. A simple test of part of the circuit is to turn the key to on.. Now your dash warnimg lights (oil, alternator, and check engine light) should be on. Are they on, and your gauges working? If not you have lost power to the ignition switch, so check your battery connections. If the key switch turns the dash on, then turn key to start. Do you hear a click from the engine area? If not, have the starter checked. If you do hear a click, or several clicks, then power from the switch is causing that click, probably at the starter. Turn the headlights on and observe them. Are they bright? If not, charge the battery up. If they are bright, watch them while a helper turns the key to start. If the lights go dim in start, probably a bad starter. If the lights don't dim, it could be a bad connection somewhere, like the battery or starter. Good luck

Replaced starter, car started for 4 days. Fifth day car wouldn't start, just made a clicking noise. What could it be now?

If the lights are dim it is a battery problem. It might be a just dirty terminal or the connection on the starter is not good. Check the voltage of the battery with the lights on, should be 12 volts. If it drops when you try to start then it is faulty. The voltage when running should be 14 volts or more.

CLICKING NOISE.WON'T START.

Sounds like a bad battery. Try jumping the vehicle. If it won't start from a jump then you need to look at the Solenoid.

Could be one of two things.

1. Your starter motor is no good.
2. If you turn on your lights and try to start the car and they dim to almost black, then you need to check the battery connections.
