It is located at the back of the transmission on the passengers side under the truck. I have the same problem and I tried to order the sensor and it was too damn much, they told me $395! I found some on the net but not sure if its the right one. If you have found one that works could you please shoot me the info via email at danman4999@yahoo.com

Ok well I Have 2 1992 Troopers, The Speed Sensor is On the Transfer case. The Shop Manual, don't give the exact Location of the Sensor, But i can tell you is that it is held in there by a Bracket that has only one bolt holding it to the transfer case. it Should be the only thing on the case that has a Long skinny cable coming out of it.

I cant find the speedometer cable

Don't remember when it was done, but there is no cable after a certain year, it went all electronic. if yours does have a cable, in would be connected to the speed sensor in the transmission and through the firewall to the speedometer. if you have a V6 the sensor is located on top of trans to the right of the vehicle.

Windshield wipers dont work, speedo cable replacement are they all the same or does manual tran. take different kind and are they one piece or two and how many pieces have to replace. How do you adjust...

The shifter has a ball 5that it moves on that cqn be replaced and your Hoda dealer may have onew or certainly order one for you. the speedometer cable ( if it has one, not likly too as the ones for sale in the USA don't) You'll have to disassemble and check by turning the cable by hand. The seedometer driver is electric and the wires break and the senser fails. USA cars have hads sensers since '87. The windsheild wipers have a fuse the switch on the collum fails and can be addressed with the covers off the steering collum. It fails oftenm and then blows the fuse. The linkage comes off the wiper motor and the motor it'self fails ( not very often.)

THAT SOUNDS MORE LIKE THE VARIABLE SPEED SENSOR! IT IS LOCATED ON THE TRANSMISSION! SOME OF THEM HAVE A SPEEDOMETER CABLE ATTACHED TO THEM, AND SOME DON'T! THEY WILL HAVE A 2 WIRE PLUG THAT IS ATTACHED TO THEM!

The speedometer in my 2005 mustang stop working what could be wrong... peter

Most of the time when the speedometer stopps the odometer stopps too it it has the transmission may have troble ( if it's automatic as the speedsenser helps the trans shift as the computer shifts the trans too. the check engine light should be on also if it's not and the odometer is still working the problem is in the speedometer itself and the unit can be shipped off though your ford dealer for repair but I woould'nt do that till the speedometer has been removed unplugged and replugged in to see if it's just a bad connection. The speed senser can fail too but you will have these other problems tha I mentioned. The senser is on the side of the transmission nesr the place the drive shaft is connected to the transmission. If the automatic transmission shifts normally and the check engine lightisn't on the senser is likly to be good.

Speedometer won't work.ford dealer says no sensor in transmission.i changed the sensor in the rear diff.that didn't help.

If it doesn"t have a speedo cable it has to have a speed sensor. It is usually located on the drivers side of the transmission bolted into the tail housing. Sometimes they have a cable going to the sensor but was changed to just the sensor. Have you called a parts house like auto zone, and asked if they have a listing for a vehicle speed sensor for your vehicle> You do not have to go to the dealer all the time.By the way most speed sensors are on the outside of the trans not on the inside.Usually a 11mm wrench will remove the bolt that holds the sensor in place. Remove the bolt pull the sensor out and replace with new.

Speedometer reads 15 to 30 mph than actual speed. Just started , cold here tires are the sameas before. 2005 v6 mustang

Sound like the speed sensor is not working right. Located on the drivers side of trans where the speedometer cable plugs in to the speed sensor. One 10mm bolt with clip holds it to trans.

'92 Isuzu Trooper speedometer problem

Replace the speed sensor located on the transmission this sends the signal to the speedometer, you may want to check the plug and its terminals to be sure the terminals in the plug are not corroded if they are clean the terminals with electrical contact cleaner then drive the care see if cleaning the plug fixed it if not replace the speed sensor.
