Heater in 2005 Focus

The heater in my focus only works when the car is in motion. When the car is idling it blows out cold air. It takes about 20 mins. to defrost my car in the morning.

The heating sucks in this car. I have to let my car run for 20 minutes if I want it to be even remotely warm when I leave for work in the morning. Luckily the seats warm up quickly but I'm very disappointed with the heating in my car.

    Firstly check coolant level!

if ok, then i would say you have a waterpump problem.but to be fair not a common fault on this veh. Are you having overheating problems?

I think you just need to top up water.

Is the interior blower working? I also had this problem, if your blower isnt working check resistors for blower speed then the blower itself

You need to fix the coolant leak, then refill and bleed cooling system, then you will get heat and cure overheating problem too

Why does a/c only blow whil vehicle is in motion?

you have a problem with the heater/a/c controls there obviouly stuck on a/c you will need to strip out the control panel to see why the direction/vent , hot/cold , fan speed controls are not working , before doing this have you checked the fuses as there may be a seperate fuse for the control panel ,if this all checks out take to an a/c specialist as you dont want to mess around with a/c gasses etc

Heatdoesn't work, A/C blows out warm air and defrosts blow out cold air

Right think the problem is the heater core is blocked with corrosion ,now remove the bottom hose from the rad and the heater hoses then flush every which way you can including through the heater core reversing direction then ,refit all the hoses fill with water only and see if heater works if so the remove the bottom hose again and drain ,then add a minium of 3 litres of antifreeze ,its a anti corrosion agent as well as antifreeze and without it the internal of the engine will corrode and the slurry will block the heater first then the radiator ,

Have your thermostat checked, sound like it is not working when cold.

2005 jeep liberty blows cold air through the heater.

could be the thermostat if it was just stating to go bad, could also be a vacume problem not letting the door for the ac/heat close all the way for a few min.and if its really cold out like below 35,then its going to take longer to warm up,my jeep takes like around 20 min at idle to warm up.yours could be a case of over cooling in cold weather too ie(electric fans on before it warms up)that would be the thermostatic sensor.

Our heater takes about 20 mins to blow warm air, and then if we are stopped at a light and the engine is idling it gets cold. Also, in the summer when we turn on the a/c it blows hotin the front and cool...

always check the coolant first, then feel both heater hoses to see if they are equally hot.
if one hot and one cold, then the heater core is clogged
if both hot then you have a blend door problem.
on the a/c there's some time a rear unit that blow cool air even the front does not

It sounds like you have a blend air door stuck. This is in the housing of the heater a/c blower unit under the passenger side of the dash. There is a motor on the top of the housing that could possibly be stuck or on working.
