SOURCE: 2001 Expedition - adjustable pedals - accel pedal

I am the Ford expert on adjustable pedals. I believe your motor is mounted on the brake pedal support with a short shaft (exposed) that goes into the adjuster gear. Then, a long cable goes from the motor to the accel pedal. You can pull the cable out of the accel pedal and see if the brake pedal will now move back and forth. If the brake pedal moves freely, it is likely you have a broken gear in the accel pedal drive gear. It is nylon.

email me with test results. I have a spare used brake & gas pedal I would be willing to sell.

2005 f150 brake pedal moves about 2 inches from side to side

Check up at the mounting bolt under the dash. It sounds like the bolt has come loose. Just follow the brake pedal lever upwards and you will find the mount. Some of the trucks had electrically adjustable pedals. If yours has this feature, it sounds like the adjustment mechanism is in pieces.

There are some relays located in the fuse box under the hood.( Drivers side, located directly in front of the power booster for the brakes. open the lid & you will find 2 rows of fuses & 5 relays) you will have to refer to the owners manual for the diagram for the electrical fuses & relays.

Have you checked interlock switch on clutch pedal, as it may need adjusting, or is defective. I believe that year had adjustable switch. Should be located at top area of pedal where your rod attaches.
