Question about 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier

I have a problem with my 1999 Chevy Cavalier. A icon light in the interior keeps popping up, the icon looks like a oil pan with water in it and a arrow pointing down on it.

This is your coolant low level icon. The reservoir is located on your passenger side under the hood/front. Put some coolant in it to the cold line (ensure the engine is cool before attempting). You may have a slight leak. Check it regularly to see.

Where can i find a new chevy cavalier oil pan for a 2004 2.2

  • Hi, I can help.

  • You may also try a few local salvage yards. You can inspect the oil pan well before purchasing it and it will be cheap as well. The choice is yours.

How do you change the transmisson filter on a 1996 chevy cavalier

look underneath the car. you will see the oil pan and another pan on the drivers side. take all the bolts out of that pan. NOT THE OIL PAN. and drain the fluid. remove all the old gasket material. change the filter. it will be obvious. and reinstall. be careful not to over tighten the bolts on the pan you will split the gasket and it will leak like a siv.

Oil pressure switch location on 1999 chev cavalier

The oil pressure switch relays the oil pressure in the engine to the instrument cluster. The switch will illuminate the OIL PRESSURE light if the oil pressure drops below 2psi (13 pa). The switch is usually located on the side of the engine, under the intake manifold on the 2.2L engine and on the side of the intake camshaft housing on the 2.3L/2.4L engine.

Other, the low oil level switch activates the OIL light in the instrument cluster when the oil level in the pan goes below a certain level. The switch is mounted on the oil pan.

Hope this helped (remember rated this post).

2005 Chevy Cavalier, oil pan has hole from rock. Removed all bolts but still cant get pan off. Does engine need to be supported by something during process and what can the pan be caught on

most of front end and engine cross over support--if hole is small enough clean and make a plug with pop rivet and cold weld epoxy(oil & gas proof) or if bigger use rubber oil plug replacement a plug about 1/2 inch wide used as replacement when oil drain plug damaged or cross threaded most auto stores sell them

I need to change the oil pan gasket. Is it as easy as it looks?

Its more involved than you think. You need to look at the passenger side of the engine. There is a support bracket under the crank pulley or just inside of that, that needs to come down or removed to get the pan out.

Water leaking from a freeze plug and water in the oil pan in a 283 small block chevy engine

If you have a bad or leaky freeze plug, also known as soft plugs, it needs to be replaced. Your brass plugs are the best, and in some hard to get to places there are rubber plugs that can be adjusted to fix the problem. But if you have oil in the oil pan, assuming no one put water in the engine. You probably overheated the engine enough to acquire a cracked head gasket. Normaly that's the problem, could be a cracked head also, but more than likely a gasket. If you decide to remove the heads and replace the gaskets, good idea to have the heads resurfaced.
