SOURCE: how do you reset the anti theft system

Try disconnecting your battery cables then wait about 10 minutes. The computer should reset itself. Reconnect the wires to the battery. It is normal for the theft light to blink about every 5 seconds when the ignition key is out or in the off position. This means the system is armed and working properly. Hope this helps. God bless!

How to reset anti-theft on a 2000 alero

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

Anti theft won't reset. Battery won't charge. Tries to start on it's own.

The system may be activating because there is not enough power in the battery?
Check the batter connections and power cables.
Are the posts clean and tight.
Are the cables going to the battery, alternator and starter in good condition. Check to see if the insulation on the cables have not worn away some ware along the cables and shorting out.

My comment is about the anti theft. Our 06 cobalt was having problems with anti theft with my wife key. My key worked fine. Try another key cheep fix if it works. If another key is made have it made from manufacturer key at dealer. Make a new key from your key you may duplicate the issue.

You will have to take it to the dealer to fix your problem. It is in anti theft mode. There is a procedure that you or the mechanic must do before the power is compleetely shut off. every car is different. Any way it has to be reset at the dealer now. Unless you can find the code that goes in it.

07 ford focus anti theft light flashes all the time

If the security or anti-theft light is flashing when you attempt to start your car, and the engine does not crank or does not start, you have an anti-theft problem. The system may not be recognizing your key's key-less entry signal, or there may be a fault in the anti-theft module or wiring.
There is a reset procedure to stop this anti-theft light flashing.many a times this helps The reset procedure is as follows:-- Reset the alarm by locking and unlocking the drivers side door.Do this a couple of times and then check it will reset the factory security system . If the reset procedure does not helps then its time to get the anti-theft system checked. There is a short circuit in the anti-theft system wiring. For more detailed help on this anti-theft light blinking issues please click on the link below http://www.aa1car.com/library/troubleshoot_antitheft_system.htm
