Question about 2002 GMC Envoy
Could you explain what could cause a hard start...
The vehicle will start if the glow plugs stay on after all the others console lights turn off,
when turned to on position all lights illuminate and all turn off but the batt indicator light the hard start happens in this situation
after continuous turning the engine will slowly fire and limp into a hefty rev then back down to a normal idle speed and operates at very near optimum performance
the tail pipe blows grey white smoke for a minute after
i have had the glow plugs changed the temp sensor changed and now the shop is telling me it is a injector pump and a timing issue cost 3000 in addition to the sensor 200 and the ignition switch 240 glow plugs 400
i am skeptical and believe it is a electrical issue as the vehicle has started in -20c conditions when the glow plug indicator stayed on and once when a tow truck used a booster pack to start my dead battery. The dead battery was from repeted attempts to start the vehicle. The car started with first turn when connected to the pack.
This could be an Injector But, Not likely. Try this First, It is a long shot But, It is Cheaper. Replace your Gas cap. You could be Sucking air into the Tank from a Bad Gasket on the Gas Cap Causing your Hard Start.
