Question about 2004 Saab 9-3

2003 9-3 Weird Starter

Car:  2003 Saab 9-3 convertible.  Sometimes will not start, for no reason.  After a wait of 5 minutes to 2 hours, it will start.  This is not related to air or car temperature or other driving conditions.  I have no trouble with the car when it is moving or idling.
Have tried:  In a nutshell, Saab dealer has put the car on the computer and has replaced everything (bit by bit) having to do with the starter, to the tune of over $1000.  Various suggestions by the computer have obviously wrong.  Mechanics seem to rely on the computer, so they have no new ideas.
I CANNOT spend any more money on the car!  But I need to get to my appointments on time!  ANY IDEAS MUCH APPRECIATED.

I bought a 2000 saab 93 aero convertible in Jan and its been doing the same thing. not every time, but often enough. I first thought it might be related to the immobiliser but i don't think so now. sometimes I play around with moving the gears up & down and twice this helped (car started straight after), but once it did not help. mine seems to start ok about 20 mins after first trying.

I've called a few mechanics to see if any had heard of this problem but none have.

    did you find a solution?

My 2003 Saab 9-5 Aero 4-cyl Turbo Won't start. However, I have power in car, lights windows and radio works. But it won't turn-over. It could be Starter or Starter Relay. I can't find out

Ok, those systems might still work because the not require as much energy as the starter. Check the Battery Voltage with a good Voltmeter. If below 12, there might be your problem!

2003 saab 93 convertible strong gas/exhaust wmells when car not moving. Recently started to stall at stops and will not start at all now.

Sounds like the catalyst converter is either leaking or is perished, or it could just be part of the exhaust pipe pershed. If the lambda sensor is not working correctly then it wil smell odd, sometimes they smell like rotten eggs when they are really bad.

If the lambda sensor or the catalyst are not functioning correctly then it will not running properly either.

Saab 93 will not start

I have had this problem with my 2003 Saab 9-3 for a little while now. I would drive it to the shops or the gym and after an hour or so return to the car and it fails to start. The lights indicate all checks are OK but the car will not start, no sound, nothing. It then magically starts after 20 - 30 minutes. This normally happens during hot weather. Any advice is very much appreciated.

1999 Saab 9-5 doesnt want to start

Our 2003 9-5 started doing something similar; it was the fuel pump failing. The pump finally died and the car wouldn't start, period. If you'd like to try the filter first, it's in a little plastic cage near the passenger-side rear wheel under the car. Pretty simple to change out.

Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon 2000 wont restart when warm or after running

I have a 1999 Saab 9-5. I had a similiar problem. The car would always run cold. It would get hot and the engine would quit. It could be anywhere. One mile from start to 50 miles from start. Once it cooled down it would re-start but the cool down time was always different. Only difference for me was my car would crank, just not run. Replaced the crank position sensor ($60), no more problems! Good luck!

Service engine soon light

if certain that car has no sensor then carry on with self preservation (plus, leads, filter and such) as the warning light does come on sometimes to tell you to service/ take to a garage to service.

Security SystemProblem.

clarify me(my home languege is not english),starter is not turning(work)!?and you have a good battery so the TWICE(imobiliser) is the problem!
But if the starter turns, can be crankshaft sensor, fuel pump, fuel pump relay.
Connecting the TECH2 is the best to start diagnostic
