SOURCE: won't start, good battery,

For as long as I've had my 2001 silverado I have ran into this same problem.. And of all things it may be that the battery lines and or post may be corroded and or the posts not fully tightend... Once I took care of those 2 simple things... All has been good

SOURCE: checked all fuses-good, swapped bulbs-good, hazard

Does the turn signals or hazards work in the rear?? Yes... it may be the brake switch or the turn signal switch (power goes from battery, to the brake switch then to the turn signal switch, then to the lights. No? .. again.. possibly turn signal switch or the wiring between cab and bed.

SOURCE: 2003 Chevy 2500 Amp gauge not working

GM has had a issue with the clusters in the 2003-2005 trucks. The cluster will be replaced for free for your truck if it has less then 70k miles. I would take it to your local dealer and tell them that the voltage gauge sticks at times. They should order one for you, takes 1-2 days and replace it for you at no charge. If this does not fix the problem, you will have a new cluster at no charge.Unless the battery light comes on, the alternator should be good. This is a copy of the GM bulletin.

#07187C: Special Coverage Adjustment - Instrument Panel Cluster Gauge Needle Function - (Mar 20, 2009)

This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 7 years or 70,000 miles (110,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership.

Dealers are to replace the instrument panel cluster after the condition has been verified. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

For verified failures between 70,001 miles (110,001 km) and 80,000 miles (130,000 km) on U.S. vehicles, dealers are to provide the customer with an instrument panel cluster (IPC) only. Any additional costs, including labor to replace the instrument panel cluster, will be the responsibility of the customer. Dealers are responsible for the return of the customer's IPC back to the Electronic Service Center.

For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after September 28, 2007 for 2003-2004 model year vehicles, and March 23, 2009 for 2005 model year vehicles, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to September 28, 2007 for 2003-2004 model year vehicles, or March 23, 2009 for 2005 model year vehicles, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider.

Involved are all 2003 and 2004 model year and certain U.S. 2005 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade EXT; Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, and Tahoe; and GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles built within the following VIN breakpoints: 51100014-51247028 / 5E100002-5E223209 / 5F800001-5F882297 / 5Z100003-5Z224691

Good luck friend.

Why my car when i turn large light fail and the car try to turn off?

I also agree with electrical power failure. Either the battery or the alternator is not charging enough current.

check the voltage supply of your alternator, it must be supplying more than 12v and less than 14V.

Silverado will not start

Click on the link.
I tried to get everything on one page, makes it a little small to read. Check for voltage and ground at the starter motor. Any testing make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. Two voltage circuits, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other voltage circuit goes hot with key in the crank position and the starter relay energized, goes to starter S terminal. The neutral or clutch switch is also involved in that circuit. Use a test light to check for voltage. The starter motor is grounded through engine block. Make sure battery has a full charge. When you check fuses, also, use a test light and check voltage on fuse circuit, applicable fuses.

2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel (turns over but won't start)

Check and make sure your glow plug controller is putting out voltage to your glow plugs, make sure voltage to your glow plugs is cycling. if it is not, at the front of the engine there is a temperature switch, if this switch is not working your glow plug controller will not work. also make sure you are getting diesel to your injector pump, if you are not, there is a high pressure switch at the back of the engine right behind the glow plug controller, if this switch is not working, your injector pump will not get fuel. also make sure both batteries are fulley charged, if one is low, your diesel will never start. you can jump out these switches, if your truck starts after bypassing, just make sure to replace them. i have a 1993 silverado C3500HD 2WD. good luck!

You may have a power problem, the battery light is an indicator of charging problems that can affect performance of electrial componets [ the transmission is controled that way ]. Have the charging system checked out. If you had an alternator replaced recently then it could be a faulty remanufactured one - this is very commom with this model alernator.

My 1995 chevrolet silverado wont turn over. it acts as if it wants to crank but doesnt. the dash lights light up but my headlights and radio wont come on. My battery is fully charged and my alternator is...

Sounds like the starter may have some issues. However, the headlights and radio not coming on is a sign that either the battery is not charged up sufficiently, or there are some blown fuses.

Also, the connections should be checked at the battery for corrosion which can block the electricity from flowing freely from a 'charged' battery to the starter or the lights.

Good luck on this repair.

Battery goes dead in 8 hrs..disconnected battery/alternator/starter/computer.(each one at a time.) Has a "parasitic drain". Cannot do onboard diagnostic..service engine sign not lit. Now, truck has started...

If you have a multimeter then put the negative lead to a good frame ground and the positive lead to the negative battery terminal and set the multimeter to measure 12VDC. With a "parasitic drain" you should be able to see some voltage. Next start by removing then replacing one fuse at a time and when you remove the fuse for the circuit with the drain you should no longer be able to see a voltage reading on the multimeter. Check which system the fuse was for and then isolate which component in the circuit has the problem.
