Question about 1998 BMW Z3 Roadster
Hey guys! My Dad just bought me a 1998 Z3, i love it, but the thing is when i turn the stereo ON, the stereo screen show this messege "CODE ----" i don't know what to do. I was looking on the internet, and I found that I need the serial number located in stereo label: This is what I find MOD C33 DIN US P/No: 65.12-8380233 S/No: AL6BDU W 03 21680 Note: I have the car title, but not the owner's manual (Fixed Salvage Car). Any help will be greatly appreciated :)
The S/No is you serial number it is asking for. Try putting the S/N in the internet and see if that radio comes up with solutions. Otherwise take it to a dealer. For that I think they would have an answer for you as to how to fix it free of charge.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

Take your radio out (Using an Allen wrench) there are 2 little doors on either side of your radio. Back out the recessed allen head screws till it stops and withdraw the radio out. Disconnect the radio wiring(no need to worry they only fit one way) take the radio to the dealer with your Reg. or title and ask the service advisor for the code. (they might try to charge you for the code. But just complain and say" that you have had many bmw and you've been comming to the dealer for parts for years now and it that how you treat me"!) that should get you the code (If you are a woman then wear something tight & Skimpy) same effect. put the radio back in and input the code...
You should be good to go.

SOURCE: radio code
Hello, The only way I know of to get a radio code is from BMW itself. If you call your nearest BMW dealer and supply them with all the info they need, they can get it from BMW. You may be required to make available your registration and ID for them to process this.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: z3 brake light sensor
lay on your back in the drivers side and look up... it should be located just behind the brake pedal... move the brake pedal by hand and you should see the switch move

SOURCE: BMW 318i serial number location
Try the trunk lid where the tools are kept. The tools that I'm talking about are on the actual trunk lid, or atleast they are on my 94 318i. There should be a copy of the VIN there.

yes the light is because of the gas cap being gone (sets code in evaporative emissions system), replace the gas cap, disconnect the battery for five minutes and that will turn of/reset the light, make sure u have the radio code before u do this, if u don't u will have no radio after the battery is disconnected..
