Check the Fuel injection system (injectors) and the intake manifold. It might also be wise to check the alternator as well as the starter coil and also the electronic distributor

How to install coil pack

Remove the distributor cap and rotor arm. There are a couple of screws holding the ignitor module in.. remove this, and the coil pack lifts out. replace in reverse order.

What does the capacitor do on a 2000 mazda 626

The capacitor is used in an ignition system to charge up in the rest period and suddenly discharge in the firing cycle. The reverse flow of current through the coil causes a rapid decay of the electrical field in the coil and produces the big spark. If the condenser is faulty the coil field takes too long to decay so you get a weak orange spark that has trouble jumping the points

1995 Mazda 626 -what is the firing order on a 2,5lt engine? I have # one turned to the top and the timing mark on the crank is right on but the rotor is on #6 plug. Doesn't make sense to me. When I turn it...

I read that the firing order was '1,2,3,4,5,6' which is easy to remember: prev.gif next.gif FIRING ORDERS NOTE: To avoid confusion, remove and tag the spark plug wires one at a time, for replacement. If a distributor is not keyed for installation with only one orientation, it could have been removed previously and rewired. The resultant wiring would hold the correct firing order, but could change the relative placement of the plug towers in relation to the engine. For this reason it is imperative that you label all wires before disconnecting any of them. Also, before removal, compare the current wiring with the accompanying illustrations. If the current wiring does not match, make notes in your book to reflect how your engine is wired. Spark plug firing order

check the ignition coil power source...get a test light & check for power with the key on @ the positive side of the coil...if it does have power have a friend crank the engine over & check the negative side for a flashing light..if it does then make sure you have spark @ the coil if not replace the coil
