yes the fuel pump is running, you know because when you put the key up and ready to start you can hear it. I know just what you are talking about I have had that same problem. It is about a $4,00 part should not be more then $10.00. So open the hood and then go to the fuse box you will want to change the fuel pump relay that is in the middle of power point and pcm power relay. Also there is another that has to do with the fuel and that is called fuel system this part is located on the right side of the fuse box and the other is on the left.
I hope that you have every thing work out for you please let me know what happens I hope it works out well.

Lift the carpet in the back of the vehicle to see if the is a access panel to the fuel tank, to access the fuel gauge. If no access panel then have to drop the fuel tank.

Removing the fuel pump requires lowering the fuel tank from the vehicle, the fuel lines require special tools to remove the lines from the pump without damaging the lines( tool availiable at parts store) then remove the lock ring by turning counter clockwise , then the pump , is held to the bottom of the tank by a clip on each side of the pump once depressed the pump will come out.

Have you checked the fuel ppm cut off switch? It should be under the passenger side of the dash. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!
