Question about 2002 Pontiac Grand Am
When i hit 60mph the engine light will come on,it will bogg down, but if i give it gas it will, get going,it mostly happens when im going up an incline or a steep grade,it can have alittle gas in the tank or it can be full
On a vehicle that is an older car, most likely with higher mileage, you more than likely need to replace the O2 sensor, (oxygen sensor). This will increase your performance, and, as well you will see a positive increase in your miles per gallon.

The gas guage has a sending unit in the tank attached to the pump, there is a small circuit board on it that has smal"fingers" that send the signal to the guage. These get worn off and thus sends a false reading to the gas guage in the dash. The gas tank must be removed and a new unit put in to solve the problem. I had to do this repair to mine. As for the gas issue, just try pulling the nozzle back out of the filler neck when putting gas in, sometimes the overflow tube gets plugged up and won't allow the air to escape as the gas goes in the tank, making the gas pump think the car is full, pulling the nozzle will allow the air to escape. Hope this helps.

I just got done with this same problem. Check a small looped vacuum hose just behind the mass air flow sensor which is attached to the air filter housing. the hose will be toward the plenom on the right side next to a blue connector. They have a tendency of getting soft.
