I just had my front and rear brakes serviced. The pads and shoes were replaced. When I drove out About 2 minutes later the yellow light went on. I went to the manual and it says it has something to do with the emission control system.
I have my oil changed every 3000 miles or 3 months.. We have had the car for 4 years and only have 24000 miles on it.
When the yellow light went on, it started to make a pinging/rattling sound.
The dealer told me that he sees this quite often for those individuals who choose to go to a generic or other brand oil filter.
I called up three kia dealers. Two said that a spin on oil filter - no difference and as long as it screws on and does not leak it is okay.
The parts manager at the third Kia dealer said that the Kia filter has a spring which has something to do with the compression, etc.......
So does the fact that I go to Walmart every 3 months to have my oil changed have anything to do with the yellow light going on. Does the fact that I had my brake pads and shoes replaced have anything to do with the yellow light going on?
No it has nothing to do with regular oil changes as long as they are done right and frequent. is the yellow light say check engine or service engine soon? if it does take it to advance auto parts or a similiar parts store chain they usually will scan the pcm for free, but with only 24000 miles you should have warranty left on this vehicle if so take it to the dealer to fix at no cost to you.

If all brake system good and not jam you probably got air in the brake system you got to bleed the system that mean starting from the right rear open the bleeder by gravity fluid will start coming out make sure you top off the fluid . On the master cylinder where the brake oil goes use dot3 oil DONT press the brake peat just leave it open and the gravity will do the job and you see only oil coming out of the bleeder close it and the same thing on the rear left and after the right front after the left front DONT FORGET TO FILL THE MASTER CYLINDER KEEP IT ALWAYS FULL after closing everything your brake should be good take your time the clean the brake oil that leak out simple apply water good luck

I have Pictures of my Kea Sedona rear brake assembly and drum I can send you, if this helps or tell me what information your after regarding the rear brake assembly.
you need to burp the system lift vehicle so front wheels are higher then back and run vehicle with heat on and coolant resivour cap off for about 30 mins
Cable may be seizing in the sheath due to corrosion. Remove the drums to see if shoes move outward when someone pulls the lever. If not, remove the cables from the shoes, raise the ends, and shoot oil into the sheath. Break the cable loose inside the sheath and continue oiling until the cable moves freely in the sheath.
first port of call is to return to the guy who said all was ok
on the rear brakes of a sorento there are brake pads for your service/foot brake, but the handbrake works on a sepperate system. there are brake shoes within the rear brake discs which are solely for the parking brake... have these been overtightened ar just full of dust, my advice is to take it back, if no joy then try someone who knows about this system
any advice i can help with then ask.
regards
roger
Most likely, there are metal peaces on the break pad, for when the pads get wore down to a certain point they rub the rotor to let you know its time for new breaks.
