Loud noice behind the drivers side rear tire

There is a loud noise in a box behind my rear tire on the drivers side. Sounds like a motor of some sort is going out. What could this be? It started out making a buzzing noise off and on for a while and now it sounds like something is about to go out and it iis very often and loud. What could this be?

SOURCE: Just replaced Serptine Belt now car making loud

It's not uncommon for a new belt to require re-tightening soon after it's been replaced. Check the belt for any excessive slack (shouldn't have more than 1/2 -3/4" ). A loose belt would be one possible cause for the loud noise you describe.

SOURCE: The rear Drivers side axel has play.

I would certainly replace the axle with play. But this may not be all. Could be wheel bearing as well.

SOURCE: There is a high pitched whirring/buzzing sound

That is most likely the fuel pump. If its getting loud that normally means its wearing out, and will eventually quit.

Very loud noice upon starting, last only a second, sometimes beetle revs up engine on its own. also sounds like a motor boat when running the a/c, driver side window has a mind of her own.

I think I know the noise you are describing. I work on alot of these and about 75% or them do it. It is like a squawking noise as the starter stops turning. It won't hurt any thing and the only way to fix it is to replace the starter.

Loud humming noise from drivers side front end changed hub assembly still have noise ????????????????

humming noise usually comes from wheel bearings. did you change that with a new bearing? also choppy or worn tires can cause humming noise that sounds like bad wheel bearings. rotate your tires and see if the noise changes. if so its tires. also even if it sounds like its from the right it could very well be a bad bearing in another location.
