Re: Auto antenna does not extend
The Auto anntena is driven by an electric motor tucked under the side skin inside the trunk. It is possible that some moisture leaked in and caused the system to blow, usually resulting in a blown fuse. Check the fuse box, the manual will identify the propler fuse position in the fusebox. If thats not the problem, than you'll have to look at the anntena drive motor a little closer.

there is a plastic, white toothed belt inside the motor that has probably stripped or broken, a common problem as they get older. There are rebuild kits that are sold on ebay for Ford antennae motors, and they are cheap (about $15). They can be a little tricky to replace as you have to remove t motor and take the assembly apart, and it needs to be 'timed' properly so that it stops when fully extended or retracked. You can also usually find a used one, again on ebay or a junk yard for less than $50, sometimes as cheap as $20 in a pick-and-pull junkyard.
I assume it is an extendable antenna, if so loosen the ring around the antenna base there are usually like 4 slots on it, after you have removed the ring, have some one turn your car to the accessory mode and turn the radio on, your antenna or what is left should come right out, to install your new one just feed cable down hole and have them turn your radio off you may need to spin the antenna just a touch to let it catch cable, be sure to put your antenna ring back on.
I will take a look at mine tomorrow. Mine stays up because the nylon cord thingy is stripped. No biggy for me though. I have taken it apart so I know it is stripped I just can't remember how it all goes together.
