I wash my engine thoroughly with a high pressure hose at the car was after using Purple Power to break up the old dirt deposits. Engines get wet all the time and are designed to with stand all weather conditions.

What could have happened: You may have gotten water in your distributor. Take the cap off and use "WD-40" to get the water out.

If you got water into a relay you need to check your fuses both inside and in the engine compartment. Your user manuel should show all locations of the fuses and sometimes the relays.

Not supposed to put water on a motor,
unless your very careful with it

Have to go over any & all possible places
the water could get into wiring & blow off
with air hose

SOURCE: Oil type for '94 Tercel

Hello Seth.
If the temperature you are running until your next oil change is due will be below 50F average they recommend 5w30.
Otherwise 10w 30 is the choice.

1986 Tercel 4wd. Car will keep running for a bit after I turn it off

If it chugs or sounds like a diesel, the idle speed could be too high, or you could have an excessive amount of carbon build up in the engine.

Is there a timing belt or gear on a 1986 toyota tercel

Timing belt for sure.If there is a plastic cover on the front of the engine behind the drive belts then its a timing belt and not a chain.

1986 toyota tercel won't idle after the engine warms up.

vacuum leaks in these old cars are frequent you need the vacuum lines replaced they become porous and are extensive, also the timing must be tweaked to 10 degrees instead of the recomended 5 degrees as long as the car does not ping going up hills this is a essential modification to OEM recommendations I own a 1985 4wd station wagon replace the O2 sensor 35 bucks rockauto.com
