You may have a faulty sending unit and/or sensor

Hi ihave a 89 toyota surf v6 conversion can enyone tell me why when i turn on thefan and the heater gauge moves/the a/c button also moves the gauge on dash, are they a separate problem or could it be s

oh what and old car, (my fav)
this is now a custom car, that makes all factory books useless.
so find a shop that will touch it, good luck finding that , many will not. (risk big time)

i can tell you the wiring to the dash cluster is bad.
the converter was hack job. he overloaded the circuits.
if you learn electrics, youd, have checked the voltage a the cluster
power pin, then with fan on, see it do like a rock.
2 causes, bad wiring (small) or blower motor overload (wrong blower or partially shorted inside)
or corroded power feeds, and any place forward
a pro electric shop can find the voltage drop and cause.
i could in 5min flat.

My gas gage stays on full what could the problem be?

Does the gauge go to zero when you turn the ignition off? If not, then the gauge itself is bad. If it does, then the sending unit is probably bad. The sending unit is inside the gas tank, on the fuel pump mount. Try lifting the rear seat and open the cover plate there to expose the connector for the fuel gauge and pump. Do not disconnect the two hoses! Disconnect it, then turn the ignition key on. If the gauge stays at zero, the sending unit is bad. If it goes up to full, then there is a wiring problem. If you're not familiar with working with this sort of thing, I strongly recommend you take it to a qualified shop.

Fuse for gauges keep blowing

initially you had a bad earth causing you the problem , now you have a live wire broken which is shorting out via the chasis and causing the fuses to go.
remove the fuse box and trace the wire that comes from the blown fuse, and follow it down the loom .do a conyinuity test on it and it will tell u if there is a break in it ,,which there is !!!
find the broken wire and renew the wire from the fbox to where ever it goes and also look for the main earth from that loom and remove and replace it . hope this helps

2005 dodge magnum rt. a/c gauges not working an i cant tell how much ac im putting in because the high pressure side is not moving from 50psi. but if i turn car off it goes up

If both sides are reading the same, the compressor is not working, or you have the gauges hooked up to the same side somehow.
The system should read what the outside air temp is until the compressor starts running.

If my gas gauge doesnt work can it just be a fuse

Doubt it.
The same fuse for the gauge would handle the rest of the cluster.
Probably the sending unit in the tank.

A 2001 F250 reg cag 5.4 4x4. The trck sat for almost 2 years. Now the gas gage goes to and stays at full with key on and drops to empty with key off as it should. I am thinking a ground issu but cant find...

When you ground the sending unit wire gauge will go to full you have a short to ground on this circuit yellow and white wire from the tank to the gauge or the sender is shorted out

When the gas tank is full the gas gauge shows as empty. When the gas tank is empty the gas gauge shows as full.

Well that tells me that someone installed the wrong fuel level sensor. Your going to have to drop the tank and pull the pump and float assymbly out. Then go to a parts store and get a sending unit that has the opposite resistance of that sending unit. Just wait until the tank is empty so its a lot lighter. You can call the parts store or go down and see if there is multiple sending units. The sending units work by resistance, when the tank is full the float moves up and turns a wheel in the sending unit, which either removes or increases the resistance causing the gauge to lower. The sending units either give full resistance at full or no resistance at full and then changes as the level goes down until it does the opposite at empty.

Seccurity light staying on car starts and shuts right off gas gauge shows empty

Hello You can try resetting the security system by turning the key on and leaving it in the run position for 15 to 20 minutes, and then just start the truck don't turn to the off position until you have started the truck. after that all should be fine, And remember use the key with the chip on it too. Hope that gets you up and running. Thanks for using Fix Ya bear001
