The camshaft sensor can be problematic in that if it's not working, the engine will refuse to turn on. A mechanic will usually need to test each sensor individually if it looks like something may be wrong with them. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A 2001 jimmy gmc my speedometer dose not work and my transmision will not shift i changed the sensor and it didnt fix the problem i changed the filter didnt help what else could cause this problem

What sensor did you change . VSS - vehicle speed sensor or output speed sensor .
The ideal what to find the problem would be to hook up a factory scan tool to see the VSS is put out a signal to the PCM/ECM , then see if the PCM /ECM is sending info to the instrument cluster ,. And knowing how these this work couldn't hurt either .

The IPC displays the vehicle speed based on the information from the PCM. The PCM converts the data from the vehicle speed sensor to a 4000 pulses/mile signal. The IPC uses the vehicle speed signal circuit from the PCM in order to calculate the vehicle speed. The speedometer defaults to 0 km/h (0 mph) if a malfunction in the vehicle speed signal circuit exists.

Have the vehicle checked for DTC"S - diagnostic trouble codes . No all code's turn on the check engine light .
DTC P0608
The PCM creates the vehicle speed output signal by pulsing the circuit to ground. The PCM pulses the circuit at the same rate as the vehicle speed signal input. The PCM monitors the voltage on the vehicle speed signal circuit. If the PCM determines the voltage is out of the normal operating range, a DTC sets.

Install a scan tool.
Raise the vehicle's drive wheels. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
Start the engine.
Place the transmission into drive for an automatic transmission or third gear for a manual transmission.
With the scan tool, observe the Vehicle Speed Sensor parameter in the PCM data list.
Does the Vehicle Speed Sensor parameter match the speedometer display?

This is something best taken to a qualified repair shop . This could be a wiring issue , or the PCM or the instrument cluster .

Changed the crankshaft sensor but car still won't start

How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes? What kind of testing have you done?
Make sure battery has a full charge. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the spark plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. Check your security system.
You need to do some testing, so we will know what your missing, fuel--spark--compression? I'm not a caddy expert, I'm usually ok on the basics, though.

Hello,
When the MAF on most vehicles reach a point of preventing the engine from starting, you can usually just unplug it and the engine will start. If that doesn't work-
You may want to try having the O2 sensor, ( Oxygen sensor ), checked. It works with other components of the emission system and can cause similar symptoms as the MAF, including preventing the engine from starting.

I have a 96 oldsmobile ahieva. I was told I need to change the cold start sensor. What is the cold start sensor and how can it be replaced.

There is no cold start sensor on any G.M.vehicles that I know of.They probably mean the coolant temp sensor for the PCM.It would be best if you posted what problem you are having with your vehicle and make sure and let me know what motor it has and I`ll let you know where it is.Is check engine light on?Does it run rough, hard start when cold or hot, anything you can add would be a great help.

The 2 02 sensors up stream went out so i changed them, car starts up fine then dies do i need to change the 2 down stream sensors two.

This may be another problem, a bad O2 sensors wouldn't normally cause you car to cut off. Don't guess with this vehicle have it put on a computer, I would recommend an Auto Zone store they will check for free. I would be more than glad to help you out when you get it check first to find code.Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
