    if i add power to the fuel pump direct from the battery the truck runs good but there has to be something wrong to not give power to the fuel pump

    Have some one turn the key towards the start position, while you listen at the fuel tank. This is also where a good cheap pair of mechanics stethescope comes in handy. The electrical pigtails could be the problem. There is also a relay and a fuse in your engine compartment and most likely the drivers side. Always disconnect your negative terminal from the battery first. It is easy to fry a component if you do not.

    the wiring harness has been replaced and with a meter on the fuel pump terminals i cant get voltage .When i test the terminalsof the relay there is 12v and the relay and fuses are new battery allways disconected when working on it

    Its getting frustrating the truck has allways run good and it just died when we were driving , after towing it home we taped the top of the fuel tank and if fired up for about 5 min then it just died and never started so naturally i replaced the fuel pump and filter and nothing so then replaced relay and fuses then mass air flow sensor and o2 sensor then replaced the ecu all vacume lines are good and now im lost

    On most all vehicles there is a fuel shut off switch. If you have been in a wreck or bumped something hard the switch can shut off the fuel pump. This is a saftey device. Read your manual to find out where yours is, usually it is located on the passenger side. There will be a hole. If it popped up and is showing red just push it back down and you should be good to go. Hitting a speed bump to hard can activate this switch and disable your vehicle.

Sounds frustrating. Presumably you've also checked the fuse panel for blown fuses? Check to be sure you're at least getting power to the fuse, that will at least narrow down a problem before the fuse or after.

SOURCE: need location of the fuel pump relay on a 1990 toyota pu, six cylander 4x4

The Feol pump/circuit opening relay is located inside the cab on a relay block either behind the glove bosx or the right kick panel, I'll see if I can locate a location diagram and post it in a follow up. In the meantime locate the diagnostic check connector under the hood,it's located near the right fender on a fuse block, open the cover and put a jumper wire between the terminals FP and B+, turn the key on and let me know if this makes the fuel pump run.

This is something that you cannot afford to throw any more money at. Get a timing light to check to see if there is spark. Use a pressure guage to check fuel pump. Get bug lights to test injectors.

Toyota Tacoma fuel problem

Check the following:
- Listen to the fuel pump noise under the fuel tank.
- Starter signal.
- EFI relay, under the hood fuse and relay box.
- Fuel pump operation and pressure.
- Regulating valve.
- Circuit Opening Relay (COR) under the dash.
- Check for open in harness and connector between circuit opening relay and fuel pump, and fuel pump and body ground

I have a 93 altima that will crank but will not start...about a couple months ago i went to my work and shut off my car. it was running fine when i shut it off.. when i came back out and started my car...

this year model is notorious for fuel related probs...check the remainder of the fuel system, injectors, and the fuel pressure regulator also verify that the fuel pump is actually running and getting the correct amount of power to the pump itself..... it may not be bad just not getting enough power

Driving fine suddenly stoped engine kicks but just wont start.

Hello;
Have you checked your fuel pump relay. It is located on the panel with the fuses under the hood. If the relay is not working, the truck will crank but not start. This is a typical problem of vehicles that run fine and then suddenly quit. Hope this helps, rate me highly please.
Thanks;
