I have seen this in a chrysler t/c it ended up being the mechanical speedo head motor that turns the needle malfunction. your probably getting the signal from the VSS to the PCM. but no output. start there

SOURCE: My speedometer stopped working
Sounds like the speedometer/odometer cluster or the dash cluster itself has given up. Suggest checking Ebay or googling "digital dash rebuilders" for some rebuilt units, or you may be able to get a factory unit from the dealer. This happens a lot. A resistor in the printed circuit can go bad or the units themselves can go bad. An entire rebuilt or good junkyard unit is the preferred fix.Sounds like the speedometer/odometer cluster or the dash cluster itself has given up.

You probably have a blown fuse that conrols the speedometer and shift point of the transmission; Check the fuses inside the car under the dash on the driver side. The speedometer tells the transmission when to shift.
