The driveability thing with the computer threw me for a loop, but is it hard to start AND when it does, it runs rough:lopes when idle or idling erratically or misses? Because you could be looking at vacuum leak, fuel or electrical fault, plugged PCV valve, or clogged CCV hoses or air filer, leaking head gasket, faulty spark plugs or wires - time for replace? - or maybe even uneven or low cylinder compression. You could try checking for an answer in a Chilton or Haynes book. Or maybe the battery's electrolytes are low and need some distilled water?

Well, since the battery is on the right side in the engine compartment and you said you cleaned the terminals. Did you spray the terminals off with a hose and water? If so the distributor is located not far from the battery and you may have gotten the distributor a little moist in side which can cause it to nots tart or run rough. Pull the distributor cap and check for moisture. If wet just dry the cap and replace it .

Check your battery if everything else seems fine. Otherwise, I would need more information about what the car is doing when you try to start it.

You have a possible issue with the voltage regualtor inside of your alternator.
You can drive to Autozone & have them test for under voltage & overvoltage condition, appears to be a voltage regulator failing.

Let me know how it turns out for ya!
Good luck to ya....

ok. if coolant loss is evident and you need to add water each time and not loosing it (from anywhere visible). we can tell that there is a crack on upper part of your engine . cylinder head can be broken too. so that water is entering to combustion chamber and vaporized.

If the system is loosing coolant, it has be leaking from some place, either from a connection, gasket or out of the tail pipe. When you refilled the cooling system, did you start the engine and inspect the vehicle while it was running and at operating temp?

I would first clean the battery post and clamps, as a bad connection can cause a vehicle to act like the battery is dead, you can either buy battery terminal cleaner( it comes in a spray can) or you can use coke and a wire brush. Hope this helped Tim

Dunno why but Jeeps (we own several) seem to love to develop bad battery connections; when that happens with us, I take my trusty Chinese (cheap ****) battery terminal cleaner and scrub the clamps inside and out.
