Question about 1997 Toyota RAV4
We are trying to remove an ignition cylinder from our 97 Rav4. We lost the keys to it, and went to the dealership to find out that it NEVER should've had two keys - but the ignition cylinder was probably replaced. We had the master key made and went home to remove the ignition cylinder. We got it into ACC and found the pin but cannot move the damn thing still. Any ideas? Thank you.

Normally we would replace the lock cylinder and housing at the dealer.....but if it were my car I'd uses a punch and hammer to slam that pin in and remove the cylinder. It's worth a try first before having to replace the entire housing.

This car has drillable shear pin screws on the bottom of the lock yoke you must drill these out.
then release the clip to the cylinder. you must get a new set of break-off shear pin head screws from the dealer to finish the job.

Try any other keys that you have and put them in both ways. Spraying the lock with blaster and smacking the lock with the key removed may free it up then try the key again. A locksmith will do something like it and Pick the lock. They usally get $80 or so to do the work and they come to you.
