How do I check ball joint wear on a 2005 Chrysler Sebring?

With the tire removed you may be able to push down on the lower control arm with a bar, if there is slack or movement at the ball joint you need new ball joints. the greater the slack the greater the urgency for new ball joints.

Rear ball joint on 2001 Chrysler Sebring has snapped in half is heat recommended to remove the ball joint

do not use heat on any suspension parts as it softens the metal and allows suspension failures

I just had my daughters 2002 searing serviced in the area she goes to school. I had new tires and a front end alignment done for a little over 500.00 all done October 6, and now, maybe 1500 miles later...

yes definably should been taken care of before the alignment was done
u can' t get a accurate alignment done with loose parts up front (ball joints get loose before they break)
and under most circumstances ball joints don't totally fail in a 2 month period of time

Now if your daughter drives on a lot of rough roads or hits a lot of pot holes and ball joint was dry (not greased in long time) (alignment shop should at least greased front end parts if possible some factory and cheap aftermarket ball joints are sealed and u cant grease them) There a slight chance ball joint could failed that soon but i highly doubt it

Now should u go back to shop ?? call them and explian to them what happened and see if they will warranty there work if they will more than likely day u brought in your car they where busy and behind and it just got over looked
if they wont warranty there work i would go some where else they did bad job first time and wouldnt want them doing same again

Far as cost goes that a hard one to tell u cause shops labor rates greatly across the country and even from shop to shop in same towns
for cost i would make a couple calls to few shops and get a ball park figure for your area

Sounds like you might have some worn ball joints. I would have the suspension checked ASAP. My one customer had the same thing with a Sebring, the ball joint broke and took out the axleshaft. The ball joints are $160.00 each, because you have to buy the whole control arm.

2001 Sebring Sedan LX, 2.7l V-6, VIN Code U Lower balljoints: Can the front left and right lower ball joints be pressed into or out of the lower control arms on this vehicle? I'm being told by my mechanic...

Sounds odd... Rikkalan,

(but it appears AMAZON agrees with your mechanic)

Just go to ROCKAUTO and look up your parts...

If the entire arm needs to be replaced the separate ball-joint will not be listed...

Hope this helps!!

Can you tell me roughly how much it would cost to repair 1 ball joints, struts and to reallign a 2001 Chrysler Sebring

Around $1000, it dependends on the labor rate and how much the shop marks up the parts.
