In the USA, I show a 2.5 V6 engine and a 2.3 V6 engine with supercharger.
The numbers you list are actually transaxle numbers which should be stamped on the side of the transaxle.

I am replacing the engine in my xh ute . I have been told el engines fit. I have fitted el tickford engine . It fits ok , but runs ruff, do i need to use ecu from original el or can i use xh one ?

You need to use the ECU from the engine that you installed You might be able to go to a dealer and get the ECU programmed to run the new engine

The code P2096, post catalyst fuel trim system too lean on bank 1 simply translates to a lean (too much air and not enough fuel) condition the PCM recognized through the signals from the oxygen sensors. Bank 1 has no meaning on a four or straight six cylinder engine with a single exhaust. On a V-6 or V-8 engine it refers to the oxygen sensor on the number one cylinder side of the engine as bank 1.
A series of oxygen sensors in the exhaust system signal the fuel mixture ratio at all times. Each exhaust system with a catalytic converter will have two sensors -- one between the engine and the converter and one after the converter.
Oxygen sensors signal the engine management computer the amount of oxygen present in the exhaust, which is used in determining and controlling the fuel ratio. The higher the oxygen content the leaner the fuel mixture, conversely the opposite is a rich mixture. It does so in a series of pulses called "cross counts." There is zirconium on the tip of the sensor that reacts to oxygen in a way that when hot, creates its own voltage. It must be around 250 degrees F to operate and will produce up to 0.8 volts.
In operation the oxygen sensor will cycle once every second and send a voltage to the computer that ranges from 0.2 rich to 0.8 for a rich mixture. The perfect mixture will average the signals around 0.45 volts. The computer's target fuel/air ratio is 14.7:1. An oxygen sensor will not function at low temperatures such as start up -- for this reason most forward sensors have a pre-heater to reduce their warm up time.

However, even if the engine was a interference type, usually, any damage is limited to valves in the cylinder heads. This does not require complete replacement of the engine. Once you determine the engine size, check to find out of the engine is an interference type. If not, replacement of the timing set should solve the problem. its normal enough, but the coolant temp., sensor should have been replaced as well, was this done ? this sensor is critical to engine performance, air/ fuel mixture & idle, while engine warms up, it may also turn on rad fans, all the engine sensors work together to make sure engine performs as required. it doesn't just take temperature.

Tech Notes
Start by inspecting the transmission fluid level and condition, and change fluid if necessary.

This diagnosis monitors actual gear position by checking the torque converter slip ratio calculated by Transmission Control Module (TCM) as follows:
Torque converter slip ratio = A x C/B

A: Output shaft revolution signal from revolution sensor
B: Engine speed signal from Engine Control Module (ECM)
C: Gear ratio determined as gear position which TCM supposes

If the actual gear position is higher than the position (5th) supposed by TCM, the slip ratio will be more than normal. In case the ratio exceeds the specified value, TCM judges this diagnosis malfunction.

- Incorrect transmission shifting

Possible Causes:
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Shift solenoids
- Transmission mechanical problems
- Transmission hydraulic control circuit

Significa "FALLA EN LA CAJA DE CAMBIOS Y DEL MOTOR" si cambiaste la bateria es muy probable que no le hicieron un respaldo, no se puede desconectar al 100% la bateria, normalmente de corrije sola esa falla, si no acude con algun mecanico que tenga scanner y te reset la falla, la otra falla posible es el sensor de oxigeno, apaga el auto completamente y espera un minuto y reintenta, si la falla sigue puede ser cualquiera de las 2 que te dije, suerte!

The transmission in your car is a GF4A-EL. The cooling capacity is weak. Many owners have installed auxillary coolers. Fluid should be changed every 2 yrs. or 30,000 miles. If you take your car to Advanced Auto or Autozone they will, for free, identify what code or codes are causing the check engine light to come on. More than likely you will have a P code that is pointing at the transmission. Any additional information is always usefull. Perhaps the transmission is overheating; If you plan on keeping the car I would suggest that you have an auxillary cooler installed. Also have the fluid changed. Let me know how you make out.
