My 1983 chevy s-10 pickup will not start when hot.

I have an 1983 chevy s-10 pickup 4x4 with a v-6.It cranks fine when it is cold.I went to the store the other day and when I came out it would not crank. It turns over like a wire is unplugged and is getting no spark. We pulled the car home.A couple days later I went to work on the truck and it cranks fine.Only problem when it is hot, what could it be.Thank You. 1983 oldsmobile cutlass supreme wont start

I had some issues when I changed my olds 307 to a slightly modified olds 350 rocket, it would start fine cold, but hard cranking or slow, painful cranking when hot. Alot of it was the carbureator was allowing too much or too little fuel into the engine. I rebuilt the carb twice. The first time I didn't have a full understanding of float level drop and measuring as far as bending the brass tangs. The second rebuild I finally was able to remove a large part of the hot starting issue, along with retarding the timing as well. But it still isn't gone.

This sounds like you may have a fuel pump gone bad. Turn the key and listen for a pump whine, if you DO hear one then i guess i am wrong but this is what i would most likely consider first

1983 chevy s-10 pickup 2.8v6 engine won't start

Just a long shot, but, (correct me if I am wrong about this), has the timing chain ever been changed? It is possible that it might have slipped a gear ot two. There could be other problems that has nothing to do with the changing of the Alt. Possible cam problems ? You will have to first check the timing.

Jeep grand cherokee stalls after warming up

You need to check components again when the engine is hot and in no-start condition, otherwise, you will get bad info...obviously whichever part is doing this works fine cold. ones that react most to heat are crank pickup, ignition coil and the fuel pump.(bad ones get hot and bind up)

83 chevrolet s10 won't crank

The starter selinoid(sp) is either bad,  or the starter is loose and not grounded , one of the wires to the selinoid(sp) is off, or the starter itself is bad. Least likly.
