Whooing noise increases with when I increase my speed. no noise when idling. My 4wd engages and the noise is the same. when in 2wd noise is same. I have a 2003 S-10 4wd ZR5 4door crew cab. When in park and rev engine slightly no noise.

suspect it is warped disc rotors. If the pedal pulsates under your foot on light braking I would take it to a brake shop for investigation of the fault. Any noise or unusual incidents with brakes can become critical if ignored.
Hello, This could be an indication your A/C is low on Freon or your Power Steering pump is low on fluid. Both systems are made to increase the idle speed to make the system work better. What happens in the case of the A/C, is the A/C compressor puts a strain on the motor when it engages the electric clutch on the compressor.
The A/C is wired such that when the compressor clutch engages, the engine RPM is increased to maintain the idle speed. The controls do this automatically and when your compressor is low of Freon, there is little resistance and the engine overspeeds. You are burning up your compressor if you lose the lubricant packaged inside it. That noise you hear is a dry compressor.
Turn your A/C or Defroster off and see if the overspeed and the noise stop. The compressor will run in the Defrost cycle too! Eventually your A/C will lose more of the Freon until the low pressure switch cuts the power to the compressor completely.
Some front wheel drive cars have a boost sensor in the power steering assembly for increasing the idle speed when you are turning the steering at low speeds. If the fluid level is low, it tricks the sensor into speeding up the idle to assist steering. Like in the A/C example, you can get overspeed when the fluid levels are low.

If the humming noise is at idle and the noise is coming from the middle of the engine , there is a lot of probabilities that the idler pulley for the timing belt is going bed.
If the noise is coming when the vehicle is moving ,the problem is a wheel bearing, the way to test for this bearings is a s follow, while driving in a empty street at the speed where the noise is present, go to the left the noise increases replace left bearing, go to the right the noise increasereplace right wheel bearing.
Hello! If the humming noise is speed related(gets louder as vehicle speed increases)check front wheel bearings. If the noise goes away when turning one way or the other then it will most likely be in the front wheel bearing. If you turn the wheel(while moving)to the right and the noise goes away it is on the right side. If you turn the wheel to the left and the noise goes away its on the left side. I need to know if you have any type of air suspension. If you have a air compressed shock system then I would say the whoo whoo sound is coming from a leak or problem in the air pressure regulation system. That could cause the sides to move up and down and loose your grip also. Have your suspension checked and have your breaks checked also.
1. I would suggest that you engage your 4WD while you are in full stop and/or safe range of 5mph, however as claimed by the local dealers your vehicle is capable of engaging even while driving. Engage your 4WD while moving only when necessity requires.
2. That clicking noise while turning extreme right or left would be the birfield of your axle and would only mean your front hub is still engage even though you have disengaged transfer case.
Have your front hubs cleaned of old lubricants or grease due to non usage. dont use grease as lubricants, use thick oil such as gear oil or silicone oil. and use your 4WD every now and then.
Do this first then check if you still feel somtehing is loose on your suspension and others.
