Question about Cadillac Eldorado
Cranks and starts are two different things.
If it cranks but won't start it could be loosing fuel pressure overnight.
If it won't crank in the morning, you could have a bad cell in the battery or something draining the battery overnight. Such as the interior lights coming on and off.
The light problem could be the door ajar sensor in the door latch.

Sounds like you have something draining the battery down. You probably something staying on thats not supposed too. I would start with the brake circuit.

I have a 2005 honda odessey. I left the key in the ignition in the on position. The battery is dead. Do I have to recharge or will it recharge over night?

Welcome to Fixya. There is a good possibility that is what has happened. When the cables are attached right, you should only see spark when you first place them on the battery. And at then, the spark is very small, if any. Sadly, if you have did this, it may have caused severe problems with your vehicle. You have a hot side and a ground side. Hot is red and ground is black. More then likely, you will now need the car scanned on a computer to figure out the damage. It is the only way to do so. Even though it cost a lot of money, it can determine the exact problem. The car needs fire, air, and fuel to start. Your starting system includes the battery, terminals and wires, starter, and your ignition module. You need to make sure your battery is not damaged and it is holding a charge. Make sure the terminals are cleaned and connected good.

SOURCE: the car won't start; lights,
Check the starter and the starter relay or fuse. A client of mines car was doing the same thing, it ended up being two issues, the starter not working anymore, and a relay that was bad. If I am not mistaken everything should be labeled in the fuse box under the hood and will tell you where the fuse/ relay is for your vehicle
