When I turn sharply left or right there is a knocking sound in front side of SUV. However, If I take a slow wide turn there is no  knocking sound. I went to two mechanics who both told me not to worry or spend money on it. They checked all my suspension systems tie rods etc and all seemed to be OK.. Can someone help?

Seems that the problem is with a series of bushings that have to be replaced.

CV joint - wheel side needs to be replaced :) right wheel, a lot of people drive like that for a while before they fix it so don't worry, also it shouldn't be soooo expensive

Knocking when i turn right, was told it was cv joint, so changed right handside as thats the side all the noise comes from, but still not stopped knocking. have i changed the wrong side, or is it something...

yes you changed the wrong side if it knocks when you turn right its the left side because turning right shifts all the wait on the left side and puts a load on the joint causing it to knock

Knocking noise more on right side, but left side turns also

Check the boots at the ends of the front axles...If one is torn the joint has likely failed and needs to be replaced.

Have your front outer C/V joints checked. ( left & right driveshafts outer joints get dry or worn causing a knocking or racheting type noise. ) hope this helps
