Question about 2001 Ford Escort ZX2
Code reader >po171system lean bank one. I can`t find any vacuum leaks. One place said oxygen sensor bad,But this car has two one up stream one down stream.Another place said idol air controal valve bad,and another said throttle position sensor bad or idol speed control bad. Engine runs fast at warm up,car accelerates fine, pulls and runs fine at all speeds.don`t smoke. What do you think? thank you.
I decided to check the idol air control valve, when I removed it I found the problem right behind it. The P C V valve hose was just about into where it fastens to the intake, the other end was bad also. Cost me aout $6.00 Where auto parts stores were telling me parts would cost two or three hundred $$.

It either has a vacuum leak or a dirty MAF. To test for vac leaks spray the engine with carb cleaner to see if the engine speed changes., if it does you fond the leak. The most common leak is pcv line coming straight off the back of the throttle body. Check there first. Also check to make sure there are no air leaks between the throttle body and the mass air flow. Don't replace the idle speed motor or the tps, they won't fix it. It is possible the o2 is the problem, but it usually isn't. P0107 Is usually always from the stuff i listed above.
