Question about 2009 Ford Escape XLT
It takes a very long time after starting the vehicle for the steering wheel to losen. I often have to turn it on and off multiple times. Its unpredictable and after about 20 minutes the wheel becomes easy to turn after that long exercise of turning the vehicle off and on.
Your Power Steering pump is shot and I would replace the rack and pinion as well.

Sounds like the headlight switch, The switch should have a built in relay that shuts them off if there is a short. The relay could be faulty.

check the abs rings on the axles they have a tendency to crack and will set a light. does the vehicle have remote start? Is it an aftermarket system?

I have a 2002 Escape V6. I had a squeak when turning... even when standing still. It was fairly low mileage: 40,000 miles?
It was the outer tie rod. You could feel it squeak in your hand while someone else turned the steering wheel.
I disconnected the tie rod. I wasn't worn, just squeaky. I squirted a little WD40 inside the boot, and worked it in. Reassembled and squeak gone.
I bought a replacement tie rod, but never had to put it on. I'm now at 110,000 miles.

Does the engine crank but just not start? Or... are you cycling the ignition switch without trying to crank the engine? Based on the information you have given, I would first guess that the fuel pump may be going out. I say this because when you first turn the key on the pump primes the engine with pressurized fuel. If the pump is getting old, it may take a few power cycles to get it going. You can test this theory by having somebody listen near the rear of the car while you turn the key on for the first time. The fuel pump make a faint, yet distinctive high pitch noise that can be heard when you turn the key on. Try that first. Next thing you would try is checking the relays for proper function... starting with the fuel pump relay. Good luck.
