I don't think the EFI relay is at fault. Other things would be dead if it was, including the starter. See here p177 to test fuel pressure, which may be too low if the fuel pump itself or the pressure regulator is faulty.

SOURCE: toyota camry 95' fuel pump won't turn on

I would definately check the fuel pump relay, should be located in power distribution box in your vehicle, you may be able to switch it out with a relay of the same type to see if it turns on the fuel pump, but you may need a new fuel pump if this doesn't fix it. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: fuel pump relay

first alway check the simple things first like fuses and relays then start playin with changin out parts. under the hood you sould find a fuse panel if the lid does not tell you what is what you need to look into the service manuel find the fuel pump relay and switch it with the same type relay can works some the doesn't effect the engine like a fan relay for expamle. then try to start engine when turning key to the run pos you sould hear a fant hum or whine from the pump. if thats a no go take the main fuel line off before the fuel filter and see if a good stream of fuel comes out when you turn key to run pos.if so replace fuel filter.

I have a 93 Ford F150 4.9 liter. And when I go to start it the fuel pump stays running for close to four minutes and then it will not start until the fuel pump shuts off?

OK, when you turn the key to on, it will start the pump for about 2 seconds-this is just to put pressure in the lines and in the fuel rail for easy starting. If key is not turned to start, pump will shut off after 2 seconds. But when cranking in start, and when engine is running, the pump is on full time.
If your pump runs longer than 2 seconds with key only in on position, you have a fuel circuit problem. It very well could be a bad fuel pump relay staying on. Or it could be a computer problem signaling the relay to stay on longer. Try a new fuel pump relay first and see if that was the problem.

94 Toyota Camry ignition lock cylinder issues

The problem of the car dying should be unrelated to the worn key and ignition barrel, as the electrical contacts only depend on the key turning, which it does.

The car may have -

- a vacuum leak somewhere in the intake tract. Look for a split in the big flexible coupling after the air cleaner

- insuffiicient fuel pressure. This might be a blocked filter, pinched fuel line (from a rock), failing pump, or a faulty overpressure release valve in the fuel rail. Get a fuel pressure gauge connected to the fuel rail and see what it reads.

1991 land cruiser won't stay runing Only run for second and stop but starstart right than quit.

Sounds like fuel feed problem. Could be relay to fuel filter to fuel pump. Start by listening to see if pump comes on when key is turned from off to run position, should run for just a few seconds for prime. Should be valve on fuel rail on engine to check pressure, pressure should be around 40+ psi.

So my 1995 Rodeo will sometimes not start. When I turn the key to the on position, the check engine light comes on and I can hear the fuel pump pumping, but every so often, the pump doesn't pump and the...

First things first...Rewiring the fuel pump will only put a "Bandaid" on whatever the problem really is and will most likely create a situation where wires are draped across places where they shouldn't be, causing all kinds of future electrical problems. I have had to clean up that type of mess too many times. That type of "shade-tree" repair makes proper diagnosis and repair of a vehicle nearly impossible, even by a trained technician. My recommendation: DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

OK, Now that I have my preaching out of the way...
The check engine light is supposed to come on every time you turn the key to the "On" or "Run" position before starting the engine. This is for a "bulb-check" just to let you know that it is not burned out. It should go out immediately after the engine starts and should stay off the entire time you are driving the car. It is not any type of indicator to let you know that the fuel pump has run. If your check engine light is not coming on every time you turn the key to "On", then there is probably a problem with your ignition switch or your ECM Main Relay. Either of these can cause an intermittent failure of the ECM to power up, a)d thus, not turn the check engine light on. Failure of the ECM to power up will also cause the fuel pump to not run because like the check engine light, the fuel pump is controlled by the ECM. (Rewiring the fuel pump will not make the engine start if this is in fact what the problem is.)

I have also seen many fuel pumps that run when they want to. You could have a bad fuel pump, but refering to your statement about the check engine light, I would guess that the fuel pump is not the main problem or even if it is a problem at all.

1990 lumina will not stay running...is hard to start but when does it will not stay running ..dies out within 30 seconds ..had been stauling out at lights and such for a few weeks but now is worse.

check/change the fuel filter, and check the fuel pump. Be careful, the fuel will run out, sometimes under pressure. I suggest eye protection, Test it by disconnecting the fuel line on the tank side, then have someone turn key to on position (not all the way to start) there should be a short burst of fuel,. That is the prime, then turn key to start and the fuel should be pumped out steadily. If you get these results, pump is good, replace filter.

Car turns but won't stay running

Check fuel pump fuse and all other fuses, check brake switch, Also, a worn ignition switch will cause the car to start sometimes but not always. Try turning the switch to on position, then jiggle the key around in the switch while pushing in a bit...now start the car...did it start? If yes, replace switch and/or key cylinder....

IT MUST BE QUIET GET YOUR WIFE TO TURN THE KEY TO ON NOT START WHEN SHE DOES YOU SHOULD HEAR THE FUEL PUMP RUN FOR A FEW SECONDS UNTILL IT BUILDS PRESSURE IN THE SYSTEM. TRY THIS A FEW TIMES TO MAKE SURE. IF YOU HEAR NO SOUND OF SOME THING HUMMING OR RUNNING YOU GUESS IS RIGHT. THIS IS THE QUICKIST AND CHEAPIST WAY TO CHECK A FUEL PUMP
