I would have a scan tool hooked to it and post any codes you read. Replacing the battery will sometimes make one run a little differently until the computer relearns and usually its the idle that is affected.

Try disconnecting the battery again. Let it sit for 15 minutes and hook it up again. This resets the computer in car. After hooking it back up, allow car to sit another half an hour. Try starting it. Sometimes after regenerating your car's computer, the car may run rough for a couple of minutes while all system are regenerating. It's worth a try. I dont know what a car with a spanner is. Never seen a light like that before, but if the airbag light is on, try turning airbag off. Ususlly a key cylinder on the dash, and turn it back on.Hope this helps

SOURCE: air bag warning light

It is malfunction indicator

DIAGNOSIS WITH SCAN TOOL
CHECK PROCEDURES 1. Connect the Hi-Scan Pro to the vehicle data link connector located underneath the dash panel. 2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position and turn on the Hi-Scan Pro . 3. Check for diagnostic trouble codes. 4. If a fault code is found, then replace the appropriate component. Never attempt to repair the component. 5. If the Hi-Scan Pro finds that a component of the system is faulty, there is a possibility that the fault is not in the components but in the SRS wiring or connector. e918f61.gif
The SRS airbag system has sophisticated electrical and electronic components. Therefore the airbag operating components should be handled very carefully. SRSCM (Supplement Restraint System Control Module) SRSCM determines when to deploy the airbag module by sensing the frontal and side impact force through the built in sensor SRSCM.

SOURCE: 2007 Passat wagon. I need to reset the air bag warning light.

the air bag light will only show if the ignition was turned on while it was disconnected.

it will defo need to be pluged into the computer to be put out but some smaller garages will have the software to do this and will be a little cheaper.here in ireland VW wanted 50euro to do mine but a small garage done it for 30euro.

you can buy code finders/reset gadgets on ebay but might not be worth it for one job compared to $130.

my suggestion would be to get the main dealer to do it if a normal automotive shop cannot access it.

SOURCE: Air Bag warning light on

Try this too and if it doesnt work the first time u might have done something wrong and try it again. if u can reset it then u will have to have it scanned1. Turn the key from off to on.
2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.
3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)
4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.
5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.
6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

What is the red warning light "SRS"

It is the air bag malfunction warning light.

This will show if the fuse for the air bag operation has blown or if the fuse is removed and not replaced. There can also be other causes such as problems with the wiring or wiring connections.

As a first step check the fuse panel and ensure the fuse is OK. The fuse location is covered in the owner's manual.

Need to fit two airbags do I fit the module before or after.

disconnect battery and do not work on system for at least 5 minutes then remove air bags and then remove the module. Install both air bags then install module and plug in next hook battery back up and turn key to run do not start watch the air bag light to see if it goes off. if it does start it is there a air bag light light lit or flashing? if no your good to go if you get a flashing light then you need to check accelerometers on each side of the front of the car. If the car is equipped with alarm system you will need to reste it to start.
