Question about 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

I need to replace the PCM on my 2001 dodge grand caravan, how much does it cost and how do i do it

Someone quoted me $1200 to replace the PCM on my dodge grand caravan. i need to replace this so that I can pass emissions tests - the car otherwise runs fine, and it passes emissions when the emissions are tested from the tailpipe. sadly, the law in oregon means that you can't check emissions by checking the stuff that is actually emitted from the engine - only via the OBD, which suddenly stopped booting and gives me a "memory checksum error"

You can do it yourself, it is under the hood and easy to spot has a huge electrical connector going to it. Contac the company at the website, they can supply a pre-programmed PCM for less than $200.00 (USD) Select your year Dodge Caravan PCM ECM ECU and get back on the road ASAP...

Just maybe your O2 sensors are not operating properly. They may be requiring your engine to heat them up to get upper temperature readings but not lower. You can easily diagnose these and all other sensors and problems by purchasing a Hains manual at your local Auto Zone or Advance auto store which will greatly aide you in diagnosing all your auto needs. And the fault symptom index at the beginning of the book will ease your troubles with professional one on one advice with step by step instructions. Its like having your own ASE certified mechanic at your finger tips. Good luck.

SOURCE: My 1996 dodge caravan is displaying fault code p4030 "exhaust gas recirculation control circuit" is preventing it from passing it's emissions test (Washington State). Is there anything I can take care

check the vacuum line going to the valve and the transducer, this is the black plastic rounnd thing between the egr valve and the intake, chances are the transducer is bad and can only be purchased along with the valve. if you have access to a vaccum gauge you can connect it to the line at the egr valve and raise the rpm to 2000rpm and see if it pulls vacuum, but you can probably count on buying a new valve assembly.
it will come with the tranducer which is probably allyou need. hope this helps.

SOURCE: Check Engine Light won't go off

If you have an Advance Auto Parts store where ever you are, they will read the code and tell you exactly what to code is and what it means. Any mechanic who "guesses" isn't a mechanic at all - he's a thief. Emissions leak can be any number of things, but not the gas cap!

Headlights not staying on while driving 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I took to a service center and they suggested replacing the light control module "switch", but have to take to the dealership. Dealership...

This vehicle has what is called a TIPM (totally integrated power module). It is actually the whole underhood fusebox/relay center. It is a module and is where the headlamps recieve the power when the pcm and body control modules recieve signal from the headlamp switch. Very common for these TIPM units to go bad causing this type of problem. TIPM usually costs around $650 new from Chrysler. May be able to find a used one. No programming is needed when replacing this TIPM. I would suggest having it at least diagnosed by a qualified technician before investing in the replacement. Hope this helps.

Code p0601 on 2001 grand caravan

A doozy! And common to Chrysler Dodge products. The code means the computer detected an internal fault in the PCM. There have been many reported failures of the Program Control Module in Chrysler products.
However, if you took off the connector to the PCM while battery was connected, you may have set the code yourself.
It's pretty much a dealer fix: In most cases, the fix is to replace and reprogram the PCM. In a few instances, the dealer may be able to reflash the PCM and get it working again, but usually it needs replacing and reprogramming. It's probably not, but ask if it's still under emissions warranty.
If you use an independent shop to replace the PCM, make sure they can also program it. Good luck.

My 2001 dodge grand caravan has a code p0601, its misfiring and smells like gas

that code indicates a bad PCM, you will need to have VIN number and make and model as they will need it to program the rebuilt PCM.
best option is to have the dealer order you one that is rebuilt and use yours as a core.
buying from independent companies can prove to be a hassle and may take more than one try to get a good rebuild

If the noid light is working, the pcm is good. Why do you say it burned out? I would check ac voltage at each injector with engine running. If #2 has lower voltage than the others, you probably have a bad wire or connector.
