Question about 1998 Ford F150 Regular Cab
You probably have a faulty compensating port in the brake master cylinder that is not allowing oil to return from the calipers. check that the pedal has clearance by depressing the pedal and see how much movement before the rod touches the piston of the m/cyl It might also pay to flush the system as I'm guessing the fluid is a bit black

The pins / wedges just tap out use a scewdriver on the metal edge of the pin just tap it out to the rear and when putting them back in just tap them back in from the front. You will see they are diamond shape and metal cased around rubber very easy to do just take your time.

SOURCE: I replace the rear drivers side caliper and pads, now I can't seem to get the rear brake line banjo bolt to line up properly with the brake line making it impossible to bleed the new caliper. I us
check thickness of washer(s) with what you pulled off. if not the same that could be your issue. you may have to find the proper thickness washer to get things to line up.

Removal & Installation
NOTE Using a brake pedal holding tool, depress the brake pedal past its first inch of travel and hold it in this position. This will isolate the master cylinder from the hydraulic brake system and will not allow brake fluid to drain out of the reservoir while the brake lines are open.
