Question about 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander

Open Question

I have a 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander 2wd and the ABS sensor is blinking while driving. Last year I just followed our dealer service advisor to replace the front right sensor . Now it is the left rear speed sensor. Does this really breakdown after 3 yrs and 42KM only..

SOURCE: mitsubishi outlander cooling fans not operating

There is a Recall to replace your cooling fan module because of this concern.

Open your hood and look at the black box bolted to your radiator fan by the battery. If it does not have a green dot on it, you have not had the replacement fan module installed.

Contact your local dealer with your VIN handy to verify the recall has not been done and to schedule an appointment.

If the recall has been done, verify if you have power coming out of the module to the fans, as the fans do burn out eventually.... but rarely both at once.

SOURCE: Front weel lights on the instrument panel blinks all time

Its NOT a problem at all, The vehicle WILL be in 2WD if the Lever is in the 2WD position, To sort this problem reverse in the vehicle in 2WD for about 10m. if the light do not go out, the Vaccum Solinoid is more that likley kaput. As the 2WD system works off Vacuum, the Solinoid can be found under the Fuse Box in the engine Compartment, It has a load of Rubber Pipes coming off it, with blue and yellow dots on. As i said, this is NOT a problem, i have an L400 and mine was flashing for about a year before i got a new Solinoid, Off E-bay.

SOURCE: How difficult is it to

Shocks are simple to remove and reinstall. One bolt on top and one on the bottom. You can easily do this at your home garage. However struts are a different matter. I suggest you have them replace by a professional.

Did you have same size tires put on ? With the light flashing there is a DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code stored , have to have diagnostic tool hooked up . That's the only way your going find out what the problem is .

ABS warning light on

From what I can tell with the information you provided, this lamp will be illuminated when the automatic transmission fluid temperature is excessive.

Also without knowing which engine you have, (apparently each one comes with it's own problem with this light) I would advise you to swing into your dealer and just ask them to take a glance at it. It could simply be that the brakes need replacing, or even or more likely the abs sensor is wearing out.

In the owners manual, they should discuss the exact process to reset the light. it may not reset if you hold button for 10 seconds, when they say hold for 5 seconds. So, if you think that is not the case and you have correctly attempted to reset the light, stop by your dealer.

ABS show needs service

A fault has been detected. The best way to find out what it is would be to hook up a shop scanner. It may just be soemthing simple like a wheel sensor but a scanner would show the data that all the sensors are putting out and comparisons and test can be done.

4wd light keeps flashing on 2003 mitsubishi challenger

Hi Adstew,
the front diff has a sensor telling the control unit it when it is engaged (or not). It probably is, and it won't disengage. or the sensor is stuck. The selector lever tells the control unit you want 2WD but the sensor thinks the front axle is engaged. So it flashes.
When shifting to 2WD, normally the front axle will come free after a load change or a bit of turning the steering from side to side, but it sometimes happens that it gets stuck. You can find out:
lift the car free off ground, then select drive forward in 2WD. If the front wheels do not turn, then the sensor may be faulty or stuck. if the front wheels turn in 2WD mode, the diff is stuck and the sensor tells you so. Same or similar problem can happen with the center diff, by the way, on pajero/montero, etc.

Where is the water pump located on a mitsubishi 2.4L engine? I have a 2003 mitsubishi outlander

While I understand this answer may be overkill, follow this link to an article about the engine cooling system. Look midway down the article for this sentence "More information about 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander Engine Cooling System service and troubleshooting, find here – 32 pages of PDF filetype" Click on the "find here" link which will prompt you to download a file 14_rar. Open it with any decompressing software (Winzip, WinRar) to find 14.pdf. Go to page 14-23 to see a diagram of where water pump is. It will also give you instructions on removing and replacing it. Good luck!

ABS light on and 4x4 light is blinking

Have someone check the wheel speed sensors. One is probably bad and not sending data to the computer. This will shut off your ABS system and all-wheel drive, because the system can't read the speed of one of your wheels. It needs input from all 4 wheels for the systems to work.
