SOURCE: I don't know what the symbol means on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire

does it look like a radiator? Low coolant sensor, may be in the overflow tank. Check your coolant levels when cold.

SOURCE: I have a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire and a symbol that

this can either mean low fuel or low coolant. if the fuel level is ok, and the coolant level is ok, chances are there is a problem with the coolant level sensor.

SOURCE: i got a 2000 pontiac sunfire and on the dashboard

If this is what you are seeing (see picture below) the explanation is there but you need to check your coolant level. Now I have a question, I did not see this symbol for the 2000 sunfire. I took a chance and went up to a 2001 sunfire and it was there. This should be in your owners manual if you have one. If your car was built after August of 2000 you really technically have a 2001. you can check the manufacturing date inside the drivers door on a label. If you need an owners manual for either year feel free to email me at csautomotivecars@att.net with your make model and year (for sure and I would go with the 2001) and I will be happy to email you a copy. No worries there's no cost for it. I hope this helps and good luck.

Red arrow poiting down

If I'm right, and this vehicle is a stick, this model has shift indicator lights. Green arrow points up when its time to shift up, and red arrow points down when you need to downshift. If it does, the tach, which registers the motor rpm's, which controlls the lights, is malfunctioning.

I have a warning light that comes on and I dont know what it means. It is a red box that has a =n arrow pointing down towards a water wave. This is a 2000 Sunfire.

That is a warning light that comes on when you get low on antifreeze. You will see your reservior on the left where you add coolant. You can just buy some 50/50 mix from the store, and add it. You may want to do some investigation to see where you may have lost some coolant. Make sure you add some though. Hope that helps.
