P1174 hhr 2.4 2006 2nd time the same code comes out last time the dealer cleaned the injectors but it can back on before the next oil change now they want to recheck again at 98 dollars a how much is it going to cost me before they find it.this hhr has always been serviced by the same GM garage.its frustrating to see how the bills ad up and it's never fixed

First Dan these car s are very sensitive, you don't ned to go to the dealer go to you local auto-zone and have dem check the light its free. I could be a number of things but just for starters if you have more than 60,000 miles, it could mean you need oxygen sensor but don't guess have it checked and get back to me I will be more than glad to help. Hey Dan, It cannot hurt to change the Plugs and wires. Make sure and Check all the Fuses and Relays also. Sometimes the Realays can blow or just get old and send a Code also.

hello dirt gets between the abs sensor and the MOUNTING SURFACE . in order to find which sensor it is .on the front abs sensor has to be unhooked wheels jacked up ,spin wheel clockwise by hand while check ac voltage .if the ac voltage is less than 200millamps this is the sensor that the surface needs to be cleaned,TURN WHEEL 3 TIMES AROUND PER SECOND! I HOPE THIS HELPS

You have to reset the message. The instructions are in the owner's manual (I have to do this myself every time I get an oil change.) You put the car into accessory and then scroll through the menu options. It's easy.

SOURCE: 98 camry engine light on w/misfires & system too lean

take sample of your fuel into clear plastic bottle from fuel line
is there any water present?
this can cause these codes and then not go on storing codes for other bank even though that bank will be missfiring also due to water & P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected being logged
check all connections to coils/leads & wiring connectors
due to miss fire codes for cyl 1,3,5 all on the same bank
also look and check for air leaks on that bank (hose knocked off or splithose)inlet manifold gasket,brake booster etc...
3 injectors being blocked slightly on same bank posible!!!
check wires and signal

was it running like this b4 tune up & repairs?
this is what codes are
P0170 Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1)
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected
P0305 Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected

the last code is for trans due to misfire/running lean on bank 1 probably a torque problem code

they probly didnt cover the electrics rite and gutum corroded--did a dealer do it-----injectors are usually self cleaning in later cars

My 2006 chevy hhr is in between oil changes and two courts low and time to change oil again.


First thing,don't let the manufacture tell you that you can 5000 to 6000 mile without an oil change.Next thing they want you to use oil that is much too thin.They don't want the engine to last too long because they can't sell you a new car that often.City driving you need to change your oil at least every 3000 mile and highway every 4000 mile.The biggest problem is having you oil changed at a quick change that uses BULK oil.If they don't offer oil from a jug,next time bring you own oil if you have to.Use 10w30 in the winter months and 10w40 in the Summer.It don't hurt to put in a can of STP after each change.

Trouble codes P0303 and P1174 on a 2006 chev hhr with a 2.4litre engine


You may need a shop manual to get the testing procedures.
Code 303 is for a miss on cylinder 3 which could be ignition or fuel related.
Code 1174 is for a problem with the fuel trim which could be due to the problem with cylinder 3 or something else.

The t/c light comes on and then goes off and my check engine light appears


Get the dealer to have a look and repair it. Shouldn't be like that.

I'm getting trouble code p1174 on a 2008 chevy uplander and bad mileage


i have an 2007 chevy uplander flexfuel i keep getting p1174 also i have replaced the the o2 sensors and the light keeps coming on
i belive it has something to do with the fuel injection system

have found that be adding a product made by a company called seaform called motor tune-up, costs about 9 bucks put into your oil will clean the sludge & build up in engine, i have used for about 12 years now works great can also use to clean injectors, i would put 1 whole can in oil, drive about 30 days, then change oil & filter, on normal bases, i use 1/2 can in oil & 1/2 in fuel tank i do every 2 months

this occurs when the dealer is not a registered dealer or has not reset your meter. the counter is an automatic thing which runs via your milage/tacho and should as you say only come on when need to. my advice is to contact your dealer again and explain to them and would also be handy if they thought that you were taking it back to them next time????

I have the same problem, have swapped coils, injectors, plugs and replaced plugs w/ new ac delco iridium plugs. I have flushed out the fuel rail 3 times and tried adding seafoam, iso heet and berryman's B-12 chemtool to the tank over the last 15- 20 tanks of gas. I have also wasted money and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. NOW I FEAR THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS GOING BAD DUE TO THE MISFIRES! (smells like sulfer/rotten eggs at times.)There is a service bulletin for contaminates and water in the fuel. It states that the fuel rail is a non-return type. This means that any water or contaminates in the fuel will enter the rail and stay there inturn clogging the injectors. The bulletin states that this causes the misfire on cylinders 1 and 4 during right and lefthand turns. So why is it only P0304 and never P0301? The dealer will charge you 300.00 to flush the injector rail. The problem is compounded by the fact that there is no fuel filter on the HHR except the one in the tank. Evidently that is not good enough to keep contaminates from reaching the fuel rail. I am going to drop my fuel tank and drain all the fuel from the system and refill w/ top tier fuel from a top tier station. Search for top tier fuel on the web. If it comes back again, I am going to get a ford focus. I can't keep worrying about this nonsense. Too bad too because I really like my HHR. Reliability is more important to me now, after all this time and money.
