Sounds to me like you need a new ignition switch. Take the vehicle to a mechanic and have them further evaluate.

Lost set of keys, alarm was on car locked. Found spare key only, it will open door, alarm goes off, but the key won't start engine. It will turn in ignition, but dead! It's a Chevy HHR 2006! HELP

Close the doors. Lock the doors using the buttons on the key fob. Use the fob to again unlock the doors. The key should then work the ignition. If this will not work, you will have to tow your vehicle to the dealer and buy a new key and/or fob and have it programmed to the vehicle.

Anti theft is on. Car won't start with key in. Have open each door starting with rear hatch. lights and everything else is working

there is a chance that the microchip inside the key is damaged,, or the vehicles security system does not identify the key anymore. there is a few things that you can try to see if you can get it to remember the key --- this process is called key flipping ( NOTE: you will need the two original keys that came with the vehicle to do this -- NO COPIES ).( while doing the 'flip' - make sure the keys are never close to eachother,, put one of the keys on the passenger seat ),, take one of the keys and put it in the ignition switch and turn to ON position, wait about 15 seconds,, turn to OFF and remove the key -- now take the other key and put that one in the ignition and turn to ON,, wait about 15 seconds,, turn to OFF and remove,, now take the 1st key and put that back into the ignition switch and turn to ON and see if in a few seconds the ' theft ' light goes out -- if it does then the vehicle should start,, if it does not then repeat the whole flip process one more time. IF it still does not work then you will have to have a automotive locksmith come out to the vehicle and reprogram the keys to the vehicles computer. this will be a service call and a couple bucks for the programing. but if you only have one key then you will need to also buy a second key from the locksmith because you NEED two keys to program the computer.

I believe that the vehicle antitheft is tied into the drivers door lock. Maybe try disconnecting the battery for 2 minutes.

No keys

If you want to initiate a new master key.... 1. Insert new key into ignition cylinder and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. The security light on the dash will flash for fifteen minutes.
2. When the security light stops flashing, you have FIVE minutes to start the next step. Turn the ignition cylinder OFF and then back to the ON (RUN) position. The security light on the dash will flash for fifteen more minutes.
3. When the security light stops flashing, you have FIVE minutes to start the next step. Turn the ignition cylinder to OFF and then back ON (RUN) position. The dash will flash for fifteen more minutes.
4. After the security light stops flashing the third time, the new key has been programmed into the vehicles computer and will operate the car. It has replaced ALL the previous electronic key codes and is the ONLY key programmed into the vehicles computer.

The dealership should be able to do this for you without a current key, of course this means towing the vehicle to them. See if they will sell you a key and you program it yourself.

hope this helps. I found the above info at FordF150.net

Did you have the key programmed to the vehicle? If not you will need to have another key (2 keys) and have them programmed by a ford dealer. Good Luck
