SOURCE: Ford ranger timing belt changing

My 1996 Ford Ranger, battery light came on 2 days ago. It hasn't given any other problems all winter...yesterday it died, the warmest day of the year so far. It's got 2 more years on the warranty. And the sound it makes when trying to start is a long trail of "clicks" rather than the usual single click, dead battery sound.

Right before it died yesterday, pressure to the gas peddal produced back fires until finally it died altogether. Minutes before that I noticed my indicator began to falter, blinking very slowly. Within 5min. the truck died completly.

What would electrical failures have to do with backfiring? What could be the problem(s)?

Some of those things are only sold as an assembly. Try independent parts stores, and you may be able to get what you need for a better price.

Ford has had issues with alignment, so after you are done, inspect very carefully to be sure all pulleys are lined up. Special tools may be required if they are not....

What is timing belt interval for 2006 ford fiesta?

If not in the owners manual, look in the maintenance guide. If it has a belt rather than timing chain, it will likely be in the 100,000 mile ballpark. Gates products lists engines that are subject to damage with a broken belt, and engines that require belt replacement. If you can't find your engine listed, it has a chain. www.gates.com to start

Wat is the period for changing timing belt in ikon 1.8 D diesel engine

Good Morning

I just happened to be reading about these last week. Ford suggests that the belt be checked every 60,000 miles by a ford certified tech. They will look for wear and tell you when it needs to be changed.

Hope this helps
