SOURCE: How often should I bleed air from the cooling system?

check your oil and make sure you dont ahve a blown head gasket and that your thermostat is good (throw it in boiling water and see if it opens), and if you are losing water/coolant with no drips or puddles than it may be leaking in a cylinder which means bad head gasket as well

Would air in the linez of my 04 doge intrepid make i over heat

Hi David, I'm glad to help. Anytime a radiator, water pump, head gasket or any thing to do with the cooling system is replaced it will have air trapped in the system. Here's how to fix it. Loosen the bleeder screw near the thremostat housing and fill the coolant bottle until you see coolant running out of the bleeder. Once the coolant is running out of the bleeder, start the engine and let it bleed some more until all the air is out of the system. Hope this helps and have an awesome day David.

Can air in the line make my car over heat

If you're talking about engine coolant/antifreeze, yes. If you recently serviced the thermostat or radiator, you may need to bleed the air out at the systems' high point. Not sure how the Intrepid is configured, so I did a quick search. Here's a link to a good how-to for bleeding the system. How to properly bleed the cooling system DodgeIntrepid Net Forums Dodge...

Replacing thermostat

The thermostat on the 2.7L and 3.5L engines are located on the lower left side of engine, near the front. The thermostat on both engines are on the inlet side of the water pump. The thermostats have an air bleed located in the thermostat flange. The air bleed allows internal trapped air during cooling system filling to be released.

Heat isnt working...place on heat and turn on but it just stays cold?? Its been like this for like a week or so..it was doing this then started for a few days where it would kinda get warm again and then...

Try bleeding the air out of the cooling system. At the front of the engine, on top, should be a bleed valve. It's small, and looks similar to a grease fitting. This is the highest point in the cooling system and eventually all air in the system will accumulate here.

Make sure the coolant reservoir is serviced to the correct level. With the engine cold, but running, open the bleed valve until coolant starts coming out. Close it and wait for a few minutes. Keep opening it intermittently until no more air bubbles out -- until the engine is warm.

I would like to flush out my cooling system on my 2000 intrepid but i do not see a drain plug on the radiator how do i flush it.

Just simply remove the lower radiator hose and drain the system. Make sure you replace the thermostat and fill it up with a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. Then bleed all air from the system.

Inconsistent heat.

The first thing i would do is replace thermostat and bleed cooling system, then re-check, It sounds like you have a defective thermostat.

Heater problems

Did you bleed the air oout of the cooling system - Their is a bleeding next to the therostat housing.

1 - When the vehicle is cold remove the rad(tank) cap and top up the level if needed

2 - start the vehicle with the rad cap off and leave the car run until you can see that the therostat has openned(look in tank/rad) to see fuild flow then open the bleeder slowly to let any air out of the cooling system. Once you have coolant flowing out of the bleeder close the bleeder and install the rad/tank cap.

NOTE - Be careful with the engine running and hot Coolant.

You make need to bleeding system 2-3 time to get all the all out. Once all the air is out of the system you problem should be solved. If air returns to the coolant system have the system checked for possible head gasket leaking air into the coolant system
