Question about 1985 Jeep CJ7

I put new trail lites on my lifted cj7 wen i was done i went to hit the ignition and nothing happened except a clicking sound and i changed the solenoid and starter and still nothing i think that i have the wires mixed up somewhere now so i am asking for a diagram that will show me which wires go where ne help?

    Have you checked the fuses? And possibly relays?

First you should Have Tested the Battery, and still should ---if you have then Starter is Culpret.
Then recheck wiring we sometimes run the Battery down while wiring up things.

well you have done everything i would have done ,except take a old plug and pull a lead off any cylinder then put the old plug onto the lead and crank engine to make sure you have a spark

sounds like you have an ignition problem, check the ignition fuse under the hood sounds like the fuse is blown, if that dosent work check your starter solinoid

I just went out to start my car, and the key turns but nothing happens except the dashboard lights come on. No turn over, no noise.....


It sounds like you ignition switch went out. I had this happen to my wife a few years ago you turn the key the acceseries turn on but nothing else. this will be a trip to the dealer. did you happen to smell something electrical burning the last time you car was working if so it is the starter switch. you will need to take it to the deales an get a ne w switch which will also involve new keys$$$

i would get a friend to tap on startermotor body with a shifter or something and if car starts when being tapped by friend and you turn key,you need to get startermotor looked at or new one..

if you alter the steering and suspension in any way as far as changing factory settings you need to get an alingment it sounds like you have to much negative caster
