The only V6 engine I could find in a Cherokee was in the mid 1980s and it was carb not fuel injected. The 4.0 straight 6 engines that were fuel injected used the same black wire for all 6 injectors to power them. Each injector has a different ground wire from the computer.
The injector in question should have the same input voltage as the others and then a ground signal on the other side when the computer commands it to open. All 6 injectors should also have the same resistance when the harness is unplugged.

Stephen thank you for your quick reply, I'm very sorry for the mistake, it was indeed an in line 6 cylinder engine on my cherokee.. So the problem might be coming from the computer if one of the injectors have a low voltage which is not enough for it to open.. if its the case, can you help me find a replacement computer box? Thank you very much for your help..

Well, I said all 6 injectors get power from the same black wire. So if one injector has less than battery voltage it can't be the computer. You would need to check the wiring harness among other things. Keep in mind one of the injectors could be shorting to ground and causing the problem. I always check the resistance of the injectors if one is in question. And all 6 should be unplugged when they are checked to make sure one faulty injector is not causing problems in the circuit.

SOURCE: Changed the plugs...

Yes, the code will need to be cleared by the technician.

Usually the check engine light doesn't come back on immediately. However it will store the code until it is cleared by the tech.

If it comes back on immediately, then you have an immediate problem b/c it take a certain number of misfires over a certain number of miles before it trips the code again.

Need a wiring diagram for spark plugs for a 1995 jeep Cherokee sport

V6 engine: firing order: 1 2 3 4 5 6, distributor rotates clockwise. Left bank of engine (driver's side), cylinders 2, 4, 6 (#2 at front of engine). Right bank: 1, 3, 5 (#1 at front of engine).
Inline 6 engine: firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. Distributor rotates clockwise.
The number one tower on the dist. cap should have a mark or numeral 1 on it. If not, turn crankshaft to top dead center of compression stroke on number one cylinder, the 0 degrees or "T" mark on the crank pulley pointer. If you are on the compression stroke (not the exhaust stroke), the rotor under the dist. cap will be pointing to the number one cylinder spark plug wire tower.

You probably have a dead cylinder. like if you have a six cylinder it might be running on only five. could be because of a bad spark plug, ignition coil, fuel injector, plug wire. you should get it checked out.
