Question about Cars & Trucks

I have a 1999 for escort lx. The PCV hose rotted out and now nothing seems to work. Can't find any hose that's similar in the 3/8's type. Car has a hard time turning on and finally idles erratically! Very frustrated

SOURCE: My 1999 Ford escort idles rough when the car is in

While this can come from several sources, a 'normal' misfire from a single plug can cause that. Another possibility is the idle air control may not be functioning as it should.
You didn't mention it but we can assume you have an automatic transmission. Standing with the brakes on and the tranny in drive, does load down the engine somewhat (drag) so nearly anything out of whack can cause the rough idle.

SOURCE: where is the pcv valve in a 1997 ford escort wagon

If you look at your valve cover its at the back on the right, it comes up and then its an elbow, it comes over the top of the valve cover then down. the PCV valve is either the elbow or the piece in front of the valve cover after the elbow.

Sounds like you make have a vacumn leak on one of the rubber vacumn lines that attach to the intake manifold. Check all of these lines and look for cracks, pinholes and lines that have colapsed.

Where is my pcv valve on my 2000 ford escort

Check for vacuum leaks. PCV has hose from top of valve cover and runs down underneath by exhaust to the valve. Just follow the hose. Possible bad idle air controller (IAC). You can also unplug the mass air flow sensor and see if it runs any better. (It will set a code but you can clear it)

My 1999 ford expedition dies when idleing

Listen for a loud hissing type noise when the engine is idling. Find the source of the noise. A common problem is a vacuum leak that is caused by the PCV hose rubber fittings collapsing. They look like formed rubber hose connectors similar to the ends of a spark plug wire.

1992 escort wagon 1.9liter engine runs rough and stalls when engine is warm.

Find the PCV tube and look at the rubber elbow where it attaches to the PCV valve, it tends to rot and leak vacuum causing your problem.

99 ford escort zx2 cleaned maf sensor, still idleing rough, already changed o2 sensors, is there another sensor i should check?

listen up! here is the solution I have had to replace two of them on two engines and they are always missed diagnosed by dealers because the techs these days dont understand the basics of a 4 cycle gasoline engine and they use scanners to find problems, instead of checking for fuel, spark, compression, and vaccum.
On the under side of the intake manifold (accessisble only from the underside of the car) you will find a 3/8 inch vaccum line that goes all the way around the engine to the pcv valve on the front of the engine just below the valve cover. This hose rot's right at the intake manifold nipple. this happens because of the heat coming off the exhaust manifold that is very close. So becareful when inspecting. Its avalible from Ford for aproximatly $20.00. have fun and tell the dealer to shuv it.

The car is idling ruff, it feels like its ready to shut off when i come to a stop.i have to take it out of gear and give it gas so it won't shut off.

These cars had a very common problem with the hose that goes to the PCV valve. The rubber elbows in the hose rot out and create a big vacuum leak. Inspect the hose that goes to the PCV valve and replace any worn parts and your problem will be solved.
