Question about 2007 BMW 650i Convertible

Open Question

How do I manually close the convertible on my 650i

I went to start my car and it said the convertible top was not locked. I hadn't done anything to it. Then, I went to raise and lower the convertible but it rolled the windows down like it was going to lower it and then it just stopped. The windows are down and I can't roll them back up. HELP! The rain is coming and I want to do is roll my windows back up!

SOURCE: convertible top won't go down on my 1998 bmw 323ic

Sounds like the sensor has faulted or the pump has become disengaged. Usually when the light is flashing it's a sensor. You can check for a pinched line or low fluid also. There is a manual lock overide procedure to get the windows up, it's in you owners manual.
Good luck...i hope this helps,

SOURCE: While putting the top up the spring loaded roll bars popped up

Hi , there is a special tool required to release the mechanism catch so you can push the roll over protection bars back to the opperation position , if you have a local dealer to you, they should be able to reset them at little or no cost , hope this helps , regards mark .

SOURCE: 2002 BMW 325CI (convertible)power window

My window on my vert was doing that. Short of opening up the door and trying to do it myself, I took it in to the BMW guys at Bimmerhaus. They readjusted the window for me and it was good to go. Pretty much cost 1 hour of labor and a couple of clamps. $100+ or thereabouts.

I pushed the trunk release button without realizing the trunk hadn't shut yet while I was closing the convertible top. Now the "closing" light is still on and the car hasn't completed...

If you can open the trunk with the key, do so. Then disconnect the battery ground cable for about 15 seconds, and reconnect it. Maybe that will clear the ECM and allow the roof to close and reset the light. Then close the trunk.
Good luck...

Hi Reba. There are a few sensors that can fail or need to be adjusted. A BMW repair shop should be able to diagnose the convertible top and get a fault indicating which sensor is acting up. The most common sensor failure is the rotation angle sensor on the driver side near the left rear corner at the convertible top hinge.

When the roof is open, the warning light won't go out.

I know that when you lower the top, you have to hold the button up for several seconds after the top is completely lowered in order for the locks to engage. The top motor will still run and when it is finished, you will hear a "ding". to indicate it is fully down. The error will go away and your temp will show up again. I had to call the dealer to find this out.

Try using the all windows up and down button (Drivers side on door), evidently after you change your battery this is the reset proceedure.
