The easiest way is when you are sitting in your car turn the key to the accessories position. You will here the pump starting up with a hum. That means it is pressurizing. Now this is the easiest but not a fool proof method. You can borrow a pressure tester from a parts store and test it yourself or you can take it out and have it tested if you are not comfortable with that..
