SOURCE: Battery dosn't charge, alternator/voltage adapter test's good.

Did you test the Alternator on or off the truck? It might be a problem with the control system to the Alternator. The regulator need a battery feed to work, It is usually ran through an alternator fuse.

SOURCE: replaced alternator and battery is good but not charging

I found the problem YEAH. It was the fuse that is in the side of the fuse box under the hood, Its where the battery wire from the alternator connects thru a fuse to go to the battery, Its one hundred and something volt fuse. It took care of the problem instantly.... Thank you all for your replies...

I have a 1977 ford f100 when I turn it over it just clicks have replaced the battery starter solenoid alternator and when it done that I hooked up jumper cables and the truck tried to crank by itself

Bad battery - weak due to bad cell OR
1st choice: Loose or corroded battery cables or broken cables -- insufficient or no power to starter or ignition system,
2nd choice: battery solenoid (mounted on fender liner) faulty or loose/broken connection,
3rd choice: actual ignition switch (under dash by steering column broken)(not where the key goes),

with ignition key on does the batt. indicator in the cluster lit?using a testlight(one side connected to ground), probe the wires at the connector of the alternator with ign. at on position.you shld be getting a live +12volts.if there is a +12 volts to any of the wire while ignition is on then the wirings or the fuse is ok.Need to remove the alternator and check the carbon brushes

Won't start until I move my shifter lever back & forth 1977 Ford

At the transmission. About half round, usually 2 of 3/8" or 7/16" short bolts holding it on if I remember correctly. You'll see wire harness going into it.

1977 f 100 carging problem

run a jumper from your alternator to your battery. This is a temporary fix and should stabilize the voltage and charge the system. It seems there is a short or grounding problem somewhere between the alternator and battery, so you will need follow the wiring but given the age of the vehicle, you should change the wiring from your generator or alternator to your battery. Be sure when you are running a jumper, your gauge wire is heavy enough and make sure the wire isn't hot. This is a temporary fix so don't go on a long road trip.
